FOX keeps denying it, FOX President Kevin Reilly hinted at it, but now our sources over there have confirmed that yes, Steve Jones has been put out of his misery and Nicole Scherzinger will be given an easy out of the ‘X Factor‘ next season.

Our same sources that gave us the very accurate scoop that Marcus Canty was being voted off before the show even aired has confirmed that the Daily Mirror story last month was correct and Steve Jones won’t be back to host season two of Simon Cowell’s ‘X Factor USA’. “Steve tried so hard to please everyone, but it was obvious from the start that he was out of his league for this type of show,” our trust high up source said.

After The Hollywood Reporter picked up on the Mirror’s story, FOX quickly dismissed it as inaccurate, but as happens many times, these stories wind up being true. This is definitely one of those times, but no one’s surprises. Audience reacted negatively to the ex-model turned host, and while he did try to become more personable, there just isn’t enough time.
FOX President Kevin Reilly didn’t deny these rumours, but added more fuel to the fire by stating. “The hosting gig, the only thing I will say, is, as we know, a much harder job than meets the eye. I think everyone has come to realise the value of a Ryan Seacrest. If you dialled the clock back 11 years, I’m not sure everybody in this room would have given him all the credit at that time. Those are very hard jobs to do. So whether Steve’s the guy or not, it comes under the heading of “growth” in general.” Reilly said there’ll be some ‘tweaks’ to the show, but they are going to be major ones. FOX has been shaking things up even on the popular ‘So You Think You Can Dance‘ forcing Exec Producer Nigel Lythgoe to change the format to one night a week from two.
Executive Producer/Judge Simon Cowell has publicly stated in interviews that “Next year will be a bloodbath. We have to come out with something better than the rest, and that’s what we aim to do.”
“The writing’s been on the wall for some time now and since X Factor didn’t deliver the boffo ratings the producers wanted, there was bound to be some major changes hitting,’ another source said. ‘With Ryan Seacrest’s Idol contract coming up for renewal, the FOX execs are scrambling to make the most use of his star power. Don’t be surprised if he is suddenly the host of next season’s X Factor‘.”
No big surprise as there’s been a lot of speculation about Seacrest being wooed to reunite with Simon Cowell on the ‘X Factor’. You know they’ll throw a ton of money at that opportunity to bring his magical hosting powers to the show. Now for Nicole Scherzinger, it’s been floated that Cowell is interested in sending her over to the UK to judge ‘Strictly Come Dancing‘, they’re version of ‘Dancing With the Stars‘. This would easily give her an easy out to leave ‘X Factor’ after the controversy over Rachel Crow’s departure which led to some very nasty criticism and threats against the singer.
The biggest names that are being floated as a replacement for Scherzinger are Kelly Clarkson, whom Simon absolutely adores; Beyonce, and even Sharon Osbourne’s name has been tossed about our source said.
I’m sure FOX will continue denying this until it actually happens and then it’ll just be business as usual.
