‘The Walking Dead‘ isn’t back on AMC until October, but now that fans know the prison will be coming into play for Season 3, interest is at an all time high, and here’s some great new images to hold you over until it hits the air again. Don’t forget, we’ll be posting our contest this month for the Season 2 Blu-ray box set too!
Anyone who’s read ‘The Walking Dead‘ graphic novel knows, the prison is when things really crank up for the series, so now that we know Season 3 will have Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his non-democracy crew will be taking up residence there, anticipation is very high for the return of our favorite zombie show. These images look like this is where the gang first gets to the prison and fights off the zombie dwellers before getting inside. It’s a great ‘ode to Avengers’ with the crew having their backs up against each other fighting off the dead menace as they move their way to the entrance.
We know that Michael Rooker is back again to stir things up, and I can’t wait to see which direction his character goes. I keep hearing that this could turn into brother against brother, but we’ll see. “I’m incredibly proud of the prison,” says showrunner Glen Mazzara. “I think our crew has done a great job. It’s a huge sense of scale and magnitude I haven’t seen on any other show as far as construction. What’s important to us is the prison itself is now a character in the show. It’s a haunted house, it’s scary, it’s frightening, and there are parts of the prison that are always terrifying, that are always inaccessible to our group. It’s not necessarily the blessing that the prison in the comic book turned out to be.”
I’ll be curious also to see how many cable providers are still carrying AMC by October as it seems to be an all out war for many of them. Thankfully, we get early preview screeners so our watching won’t be bothered by all the cable nonsense. October can’t get here soon enough!
