Terrence Malick has finally released the trailer for his upcoming Sean Penn, Brad Pitt starrer ‘The Tree Of Life‘ which hits theaters May 27, 2011.

Terrence Malick is that director that most moviegoers don’t seem to know or his films. I’ve always love his stuff, even the very underrated ‘The Thin Red Line‘ and ‘The New World‘. It’s easy to understand why many ignore his films as they’re not fast paced, but something about his visuals holds you and makes you want to stay onboard. Every actor wants to work with him, but his films, like Robert Altman’s always seem to stay in development hell for a long long time trying to get financing.

Thankfully, his latest ‘The Tree of Life’ got the funding as the trailer looks beautiful, and like with any Malick film, you know who made it. Just from what we’ve been hearing from Austin, TX, where the film was shot, Brad Pitt could easily be looking at an Oscar nomination for 2012. Naturally, we don’t expect the film to do much at the box office, but we can’t wait to review it.

Here’s what Best Movies Ever has been sent about the film and the first poster for ‘The Tree Of Life’ is below. From Terrence Malick, the acclaimed director of such classic films as Badlands, Days of Heaven and The Thin Red Line, The Tree of Life is the impressionistic story of a Midwestern family in the 1950′s. The film follows the life journey of the eldest son, Jack, through the innocence of childhood to his disillusioned adult years as he tries to reconcile a complicated relationship with his father (Brad Pitt). Jack (played as an adult by Sean Penn) finds himself a lost soul in the modern world, seeking answers to the origins and meaning of life while questioning the existence of faith. Through Malick’s signature imagery, we see how both brute nature and spiritual grace shape not only our lives as individuals and families, but all life.
