The big Peter Jackson Hobbit trilogy news yesterday was that a release date was set for the third film and the second one was retitled, but the title for the last one is official now. The third one will be going up against X-Men: Days Of Future Past.

We learned yesterday that Peter Jackson’s Hobbit Trilogy had set all the theater dates and the second film originally titled There and Back Again is now titled The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug while the third one is now titled, There and Back Again. All three films will be in 2D, 3D, IMAX and the new 3D 48 frames per second which should get theater goers accustomed to it over the next couple years.
By adding the third film to the series, Jackson should really be able to dig in his heels with some great epic storytelling in The Desolution of Smaug which refers to the wasteland surrounding the Lonely Mountain, the lair of the dragon Smaug, who’s responsible for stealing the dwarf treasure that launches Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) onto his adventure. This could be a great confrontation with Smaug since many felt these films would be slower in pace that his Lord Of the Rings trilogy.
Word is that the third will deal with the Battle Of Five Armies ending the trilogy on quite the epic scale! What will Jackson do after this one? Take on Godzilla like he did with King Kong after LOTR finished…

Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever … Gollum.
Here, alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths of guile and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum’s “precious” ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities … A simple, gold ring that is tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot begin to know.
