This will be the final season of ‘Spartacus: War Of the Damned’, but the producers promise to up the stakes, violence, gore and sex like never before, and here’s some of the latest images from the show to give you a taste of January 2013 will bring.

Epic is the word that is being used to describe the final season of ‘Spartacus: War Of the Damned’ and stars Liam McIntyre, Manu Bennett are describing it that way too at Comic Con as they did the panel which started with a very very intense teaser and then those questions you’ve all been wanting to ask. The biggest one, of course, why end the show when it’s still doing so well? Executive Producer, Steven S. DeKnight, said they wanted to go out on top while McIntyre said he’s very excited to have a season with some intense storytelling. Thankfully, fans have stopped blaming the actor for being the sole cause of the show’s final season as was reported. They are still a lot of detractors, but they didn’t make their voices known at Comic Con as Andy Whitfield was fondly remembered and castmembers let fans know about the documentary being made about him ‘Be Here Now‘.

As a sweet surprise for everyone, all the slaughtered stars from last season made a visit including Lucy Lawless, Katrina Law, Peter Mensah, Nick Tarabay, Viva Bianca and Craig Parker. This got people really worked up as can happen at the Con, but you could really feel the emotion of the fans which is what reminds you what this all started out as.

“Spartacus: War of the Damned” sees the return on Liam McIntyre (Spartacus), Manu Bennett (Crixus), Dustin Clare (Gannicus), Dan Feuerriegel (Agron), Cynthia Addai-Robinson (Naevia) and Ellen Hollman (Saxa). This year, Todd Lasance joins the cast as Gaius Julius Caesar, along with Simon Merrells, who will be playing Marcus Crassus and Anna Hutchison as Laeta. It returns January 2013, and I can’t wait to see how it turns out, especially since Ellen Hollman got to come back as the very fierce Saxa!
