The Social Network took the crown of Box Office Champion for the 2nd Week while Katherine Heigl fought her image problem with Life As We Know It hitting 2nd and Secretariat’s shocking underperformance in 3rd place.

1. The Social Network (Sony) Week 2 [2,771 Theaters] Friday $4.8M, Saturday $6.3M, Weekend $15.5M (-30.9%), Cume $46.1M
So Facebook keeps at the top of the box office charts, and Best Movies Ever isn’t surprised. The Social Network is a really good movie for a biopic about social networking, and with all the Oscar buzz it’s generating alongside Ben Affleck’s The Town, plan on seeing it in the Top 10 for a while.

2. Life As We Know It (Warner Bros) NEW [3,150 Theaters]
Friday $5M, Saturday $5.6M, Weekend $14.6M
Warner Bros. felt pretty confident about Life As We Know It, and even though Best Movies Ever wasn’t so crazy about it, it ranked a CinemaScore of A-. Katherine Heigl got over her image problem as that news seemed to dominate last week. Best movies ever would like to comment about that too. We interviewed Heigl for another film and found her to be a very cool lady. Her handler was a total bitch, and she seemed to be rather embarrassed by it so that leaves us wondering if some of her image issues are stemming from her ‘people’. That tends to happen quite often. Josh Duhamel also proves some longevity by being marketed in his underwear and that worked since it pulled them ahead of Disney favorite Secretariat.

3. Secretariat (Disney) NEW [3,072 Theaters]
Friday $4M, Saturday $5.1M, Weekend $12.6M

Disney totally dropped the ball on Secretariat with their marketing. We’re assuming they just figured they’d work the Seabiscuit crowd. From the ads, you would have thought it was a sports action type film, when in reality, it’s more drama skewing towards more a female audience. That’s where Warner Bros. won since they knew their audience and went after it. Josh Duhamel in underwear goes a long way.

4. Legends Of The Guardian (Warner Bros) Week 3 [3,225 Theaters] Friday $1.8M, Saturday $2.9M, Weekend $7M, Cume $39.4M

Zack Snyder’s still riding the wave of his first family film Legend Of The Guardians with a 36% that’ respectable. Chris Nolan is probably happy with his Superman decision now.

5. My Soul To Take 3D (Rogue Pictures/Universal) NEW [2,572 Theaters]
Friday $2.7M, Saturday $2.6M, Weekend $6.9M

Wes Craven disappointed on a grand scale with his first writer/director project in 16 years My Soul To Take 3D. Best movies ever was excited to see it, but then we just felt like Wes Craven was gone…or at least the Wes Craven we grew up loving.
6. The Town (Warner Bros) Week 4 [2,720 theaters]
Friday $1.8M, Saturday $2.7M, Weekend $6.3M, Cume $73.7M

As best movies ever predicted, Ben Affleck’s The Town is riding the Oscar buzz wave and staying in the Top 10. We give it another week or two and then when award time comes, it’ll sneak back in before dvd/blu-ray.

7. Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps (Fox) Week 3 [2,829 Theaters] Friday $1.4M, Saturday $2M, Weekend $4.6M, Cume $43.6M

Wall Street 2 isn’t coming close to matching it’s original, and it’s not even close to making back it’s $70 production budget plus marketing expenses. Greed Is Good didn’t save this one for Michael Douglas.
