Simon Cowell did his weekly press round-up again making sure that ‘X Factor USA‘ gets as much ink as ‘American Idol‘ and ‘The Voice‘. He made a point of letting everyone know that Ryan Seacrest is “a very good negotiator” signalling talks are continuing.
Yesterday, Simon Cowell and LA Reid did a press call where Reid confirmed our source negating Cowell’s comments about Whitney Houston being a judge on his ‘X Factor USA‘. Our source went on to say about Ryan Seacrest. “Simon let everyone know that he and Ryan are still negotiating but naturally it went right over the media’s head. They’re in the final stages, but it’s been a very long negotiation between the two very savvy men.”
Simon actually said “I think Ryan is brilliant at what he does,” Cowell said. “I think Ryan is also a very good negotiator. I admire him for that. He’ll stay on Idol.” When I mentioned that to my source, they said “With Simon, he’s very smart with his words. Part of the negotiations have been for Ryan to stay on Idol while also becoming a co-host on ‘X Factor USA’ making it less of a burden. Simon already knows who the two female judges are going to be so he’s been focusing his efforts on securing Ryan.”
The list of potential judges has ranged from Fergie, Pink, Kelly Clarkson, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson to now Britney Spears. “Basically, Simon is playing is smart by keeping ‘X Factor’ name alive and synonymous with ‘American Idol’ and ‘The Voice’. ‘X’ has the lowest ratings of them all, but you’ll notice Simon keeps saying all three names together making them seem like equals.”
Everyone is using the media to get their names out to Cowell, but we know that Janet Jackson is already on board, and now I’m waiting to hear what out source, who’s always been correct, tells us is the final judge. Pink is still looking strong since Britney Spearks, who’s been nearly begging Cowell to come on, seems to fit in the nice area that Jackson already fills.
We’ll let you know as it progresses. In the meantime, enjoy the Simon Cowell keeping ‘X Factor’ alive in our heads media show.
