Best Movies Ever enjoyed Sherlock Holmes so we’ve been keeping an eye on Sherlock Holmes 2 and have some cool shots from the set along with some more news for Jude Law and Robert Downey.

We love our on set spies that send us pictures like this. Best Movies Ever got a copy of the Sherlock Holmes 2 script, and I don’t think we’ll be disappointed in this sequel as we kinda were with Iron Man 2. I’m not one of revealing the script like some sites, but here’s the gist of what we’ll be getting in Sherlock Holmes 2 without giving anything away. At the heart of Sherlock Holmes 2, the story will focus on Holmes attempting to outwit his mortal enemy, Professor Moriarty, who’s being played by Jared Harris from Mad Men.

Interestingly enough, our studio sources told us that they were originally trying to get Daniel Day Lewis or Colin Firth for the part, and then with time running out, felt they had to settle on Harris for this meaty role. I find it odd that the studio would consider it ‘settling’ for Richard Harris’ son, but we know how Hollywood works.

Another addition we’re looking forward to Sherlock Holmes older brother will play a part in the sequel by none other than Stephen Fry, who was once a part of the group with Hugh Laurie aka Gregory House. For those of you that have read all the Sherlock Holmes books, you’ll remember that Mycroft Holmes possesses deductive powers exceeding even those of Sherlock—though he lacks the ambition and energy to conclude detective cases. Fry will be great playing opposite Downey in this role as the kinda slacker brother.

Our other excitement was the casting of Noomi Rapace in Sherlock Holmes 2. For those that don’t know her, check out either The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played With Fire or the upcoming (October 29, 2010) The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest.

Expect to see Robert Downey, Jude Law and the gang when Sherlock Holmes 2 hits theaters December 16, 2011.
