Rodrigo Cortes Follows Buried Movie With Red Lights

Best Movies Ever already knew that Rodrigo Cortes’ next movie was Red Lights, but we found this poster at AFM which announces that Cillian Murphy has been added to the cast with Sigourney Weaver and Robert DeNiro.

Sources had already told us that Rodrigo Cortes’ follow up film to the Sundance favorite Ryan Reynold’s Buried would be Red Lights and Sigourney Weaver and Robert DeNiro had already signed on. Cortes decided to leave one surprise addition to the cast for the American Film Market. Red Lights is about a pair of skeptical investigators (Weaver, Murphy) on a mission to reveal practitioners (De Niro) of psychic arts as phonies.

“The main role character dies in the middle of the film,” Cortes teased. “That will shock the audience I hope and put them on edge.”
At the end of his enthusiastic explanation, Cortes encouraged buyers at the private Viceroy breakfast to step up.

“Are there any questions?” he said before the silent room. “Good, so simply buy it then.”

Best Movies Ever loves a filmmaker like Cortes who doesn’t feel the need to beg for financing. He just tells the investors what he’s got to sell and they can invest or someone else will do it. Wild Bunch has already stepped up to the plate for the film that won’t start shooting until next year.

Red Lights also has another financier withCSe Entertainment, run by Cindy Cowan and Soo Mi Kim, will co-finance the picture in association with Seoul-based Blue Storm Prods.
