Set in present-day San Francisco, RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES reveals the origins of a war that ultimately led to a global apocalypse – and to Earth becoming the Planet of the Apes. The Oscar-winning visual effects team that brought to life the worlds of Avatar and Lord of the Rings is taking on its most ambitious challenge, creating for the first time a non-human CGI character that delivers a dramatic performance with real emotion and intelligence.

[...] While all the other big summer movies are just beginning their assault on us, ‘Rise Of the Planet Of the Apes’ seems to be trying to go the sleeper route and keeping a pretty low profile. We’ve gotten a few images here and there and then the teaser trailer, but nothing much more. The featurette below explains better of the story for people not aware that this was once a movie franchise. Tom Felton, who’s in the movie, gave a little more incite into his character. “He’s not a good guy. People aren’t going to be cheering for me in this film either. It’s villainy, but on a different level… When Caesar, our lead ape, gets too big for James Franco’s character to look after anymore, they have to put him into a facility. Brian Cox, who plays my dad, owns it, and I work there.
