Harmony Korine is back with his latest Spring Breakers that looks very classic Korine with Selena Gomez sounding very tired and bored along with James Franco. The new clip has hit along with a behind the scenes look at the film too. Check them out below.
Selena Gomez said she wanted to do something different with her career and after growing up Disney and then getting with Justin Bieber, doing Spring Breakers, a Harmony Korine movie is definitely a pure career 180. She stars with fellow former Disney star Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson, and Rachel Korine along with Glee’s Heather Morris.
They play grade school friends who are incarcerated after robbing a fast food restaurant to get money for their holiday. The young women are then bailed out by a shady drug dealer (James Franco, looking very dreaded out), who wants them to kill his rival.
Korine wrote the film partially to make up for his own spring breaks, as he had been fully devoted to skateboarding, and therefore missed out on what he saw as opportunities for hedonistic pursuits. If you’re no familiar with his earlier films, you can check out some of the trailers for his most well known ones. After seeing them, you’ll get an idea of what little Selena Gomez will be doing onscreen. Below is an enormous gallery of images to check out from behind the scenes on the film.
Kids was a huge shocking film in the 90′s along with Gummo and Julian, Donkey Boy, but Ken Parks, which Larry Clarke directed, wound up getting banned in Australia.
The film hasn’t picked up a US distributor yet, but with those names on board, it should make some of the subject matter more palatable to the studios. Plus James Franco popping in with dreadlocks, how can it miss!
