And here’s a little bit of 2012 London Olympic Games News while you peruse the calendar gallery figuring out which month shines golden most.

Kashirina, conceding 28kg in bodyweight to her rival, took the initiative as she became the first woman to snatch over 150kg.

But Zhou hit back to equal the world best clean and jerk of 187kg – the only record still standing after a crunch clash – and triumph in dramatic fashion by just a single kilogram overall.

Zhou’s total of 333kg breaks her own previous world best by a clear five kilos and adds the Olympic title to the world crown she claimed in Paris last November, where she also pushed four-time European champion Kashirina into second place.

Such was the dominance of the leading duo that a total of 294kg claimed bronze for Armenia’s Hripsime Khurshudyan, who edged out 2008 gold medallist Jang Mi-Ran (289kg).

I think it all stems from training and then from determination, single-minded determination,’ Zhou said.

Every athlete dreams of making it to the Olympic Games one day and then once there to become a challenger for medals and then to break world records.

This I think is what the Olympic Games are all about.’

Your question makes no sense. No one lowered any standards for anything and professional sports are usually ran as corporate or privately ventures. Why don't you read up on Title 9, what it actually applies to, and how professional sports are structured. Then rephrase your question.

And I thought weight lifting was supposed to burn the most calories of any sport in a short time frame

But how much would Title IX have lowered the standards of female athletes to to consider them worthy of competing in professional sport?

And yeah, that extra weight isn't healthy no matter how much muscle she has under it, but she's apparently in good enough shape as an athlete to compete in the women's weightlifting division in the Olympics, which is all that matters.

The law was intended, in part, to address the issue of women being excluded from positions they were qualified for, when such a decision was based on the notion that "A man's rightful place shouldn't be wasted on a woman." But it can be applied to protect men in the same situation, as the wording of the law is not partial to one sex or the other...which is the point of it. To protect equally.

You've made an awfully big assumption, which is actually false. Title 9 was enacted to ensure that those who HAVE proven themselves are not wrongfully discriminated against in federally funded programs or institutions, on the basis of race, religion, or sex.

So why must women be riding off of the backs of the males and haves ome federal law in their favour just to have an equal opportunity? Shouldn't these women be made to prove their worth as Olympic athletes and work hard for it and actually win, as opposed to getting special rights and laws backing them up that is going exactly what equality stands for? Being the best is not a joke! She is in no shape to be an athlete, much too unhealthy. Just saying!
