After we broke the Ryan Lochte ABC’s The Bachelor story on Sunday, the network is finally responding trying to hedge their bets saying Lochte isn’t their only choice for the show. Our sources say not true along with confirming the $750K rumor. The swimmer has also said that after his 90210 experience he feels the world of reality is more for him than acting. Yes, I know there’s some irony there, but…

Yup, we broke the Ryan Lochte story where The Bachelor was ready to bring him to the mansion on Sunday, and enough media outlets picked it up to get ABC to now say he’s not the only one they’re considering. As we reported, before Lochtemania hit, Arie Luyendyk, Jr. and Sean Lowe and were the choices for the show, but then things quickly changed as the Olympic swimmer proved to be quite the tabloid magnet which is reality show ratings bonanza time.
His latest Las Vegas weekend partyfest with Prince Harry is everywhere, but diehard Lochte fans are not happy at all with the swimmer and feel that he’s just selling out. “We stuck by him and supported him all those years of him swimming, and it’s like now he got a taste of celebrity and he’s becoming a totally different person,” Crystal Todd told us after saving up for several years to see her idol swim at the 2012 London Olympic Games. “Many of us are just saddened by the fact that Ryan wants to be on a show like that. If that’s what he wants to do with his life, fine, but he’s lost a lot of respect from us fans.”
Lochte fans have been extremely vocal about not wanting to see him appear on the show and you can be sure that ABC is also paying attention. Our sources that gave us the story we broke last Sunday had this to say about ABC’s recent comments plus his manager’s denial of money talk.
“ABC would love to have Ryan [Lochte] as the first major celebrity in Bachelor history but fearing some fans of the show might get angry they’re weighing other dating style show options for him as a back-up plan.” When I asked about the $750K rumor it was confirmed, and then I mention how Lochte’s manager has been adamantly denying it. “Please, everyone lies about money. His manager knows he’s turning some fans off and when big numbers start getting out in the press they’re going to lie their asses off to make him keep his everyday image. Ryan is long past that now as his image is more partyboy and less looking for real love. She’s trained him well to appear that way, but this Las Vegas weekend proved otherwise. ABC knows that and will be acting accordingly.”
Lochte has also become more vocal after his 90210 experience that the world of reality tv is more to his liking than acting. It’s ironical since most reality shows have much better acting than many shows on the CW. As the swimmer said, ‘Memorizing lines is hard’, just wait till he learns how the world of reality tv actually works. If he could get Prince Harry to make an infamous appearance on one of his reality shows you can only imagine how many more offers his manager would be vetting for him…but not talking about money…
