The trailer for ‘I Am Number Four‘ movie looked pretty promising, but then the studio released the below featurette which makes the film look like another teen franchise wannabe. Best Movies Ever hopes this was just a bad marketing effort for a film that looks pretty good.

So many times, a studio will do a major misstep in marketing a film (think ‘Wonder Boys’ and ‘Secretariat’), and Best Movies Ever is hoping this is the case with the featurette for ‘I Am Number Four‘ since the film’s trailer looked like this could be a pretty cool scifi lite film. The featurette below makes it seem like a bad ‘Twilight’ ripoff opening the door for a Stephanie Myer copyright infringement lawsuit.

Here’s what I Am Number Four is all about. Three are dead. Who is Number Four? D.J. Caruso (“Eagle Eye,” “Disturbia”) helms an action-packed thriller about an extraordinary teen, John Smith (Alex Pettyfer), who is a fugitive on the run from ruthless enemies sent to destroy him. Changing his identity, moving from town to town with his guardian Henri (Timothy Olyphant), John is always the new kid with no ties to his past. In the small Ohio town he now calls home, John encounters unexpected, life-changing events—his first love (Dianna Agron), powerful new abilities and a connection to the others who share his incredible destiny. He is one of nine earthbound alien teens who escaped their planet just before it was destroyed by a hostile species, and, of course, he’s number four of the nine.
