BEST MOVIES EVER BREAKING NEWS!
UPDATE SUNDAY AM
Best movies ever was just informed that it looks like Nikki Finke’s lawsuit and mention from Hollywood Reporter and Best Movies Ever Site wound up driving the owners of the Box Office World website to strip all of it’s information out of the site. Now it’s just a shell whereas yesterday it was still gleefully taking posts verbatim from all of our sites.
It’s not hard to create original posts even if you can only rehash old material. Just ask sites like Dark Horizons and the dozens of others that still create their own material over just copying directly with attributing where it was gotten. When you mess with Nikki Finke, she will bit back!

Queen Of Snark Nikki Finke Raises Copyright Stink On Box Office World
Indie Genius Best Movies Ever
best movies ever found out that the official Queen of Snark, litigious Nikki Finke, is at it again suing the showbiz website Box Office World with a copyright infringement claim. It was just last May when Finke went after HBO and got a settlement offer from them.

Best movies ever found out from our friends at The Hollywood Reporter that Hollywood’s Queen of Snark is back to suing again. This times it’s the website Box Office World, but this time even best movies ever could see there was a reason. Seems she had a reason as of this morning when we went and saw that a section of the site had literally taken everything word for word from the Deadline.com site without any acknowledgement to her site. As e-trade, Women’s Wear Daily and HBO can attest, this is not the woman you want to ever cross as she will go after you with everything.
As of yesterday afternoon, Mail.com Media Corp., parent company of Nikki Finke’s Deadline.com, filed a copyright infringement suit today in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles against Arthur Meyerovich and Alina Kaganovsky, alleged owners of the website boxofficeworld.com, which MMC says routinely lifts stories from Deadline. Naturally best movies ever got hold of the complaint to check out what she was suing for and all the reasons.
This comes directly from the complaint filed yesterday. “Defendants have copied countless original and copyrighted articles from Deadline and posted these articles verbatim on Box Office World,” the complaint says. “By stealing Deadline’s content, defendants have generated Internet traffic, earned advertising revenue, and sold products that they otherwise would not have but for their theft of Deadline’s content.” The complaint lists at least 21 articles that were taken verbatim from Nikki Finke’s Deadline site and when we saw the site this morning, we had to agree. It was like looking at the Deadline site, but as of this evening, all the articles have been pulled, but Box Office World has to remember that the earlier site is still cached and that’s what Finke’s lawyer’s will be using.
When best movies ever looked more closely at Box Office World it looked like the typical site that gets the bulk of it’s information from newsfeeds, and we even found many of our articles on it verbatim. We know this happens a lot with news aggregators so this is nothing new. Many sites have griped to us at best movies ever that Finke herself has helped herself to info without crediting the originator, but that’s expected with the blogging world. We got this story from The Hollywood Reporter, but rather than take it verbatim, we did our own research and our own experiences to report it from our angle.
Best movies ever has been told my many studios and sites that Finke has suddenly put “Hot Trailers” on the deadline site without hours of our having posted it, but we view that as a compliment since we keep on top of the industry much like Nikki Finke does. So here’s what her lawyers are citing in the complaint. Finke’s attorneys Bryan Freedman, Jacqueline Brown and Jesse Kaplan at LA’s Freedman and Taitelman, alleges claims for copyright infringement, unfair competition and false designation of origin, and federal dilution.
