Deadline Hollywood’s Nikki Finke knocks out another unknown entertainment blog site for infringement with the name Deadline Hollyweird.
Deadline Hollywood’s Nikki Finke is now two for two after taking legal action on two entertainment blogs for copyright and trademark infringement. Just three months ago Best Movies Ever reported that Nikki Finke had filed suit against Box Office World, a blog site that was literally leeching the RSS feed of Deadline Hollywood and copying it verbatim even with the same pictures and logos. Literally within days of the lawsuit being filed, the site suddenly pulled the bulk of the news off their site (at least the exact reproductions of the Deadline Hollywood stories), and it has been languishing quietly without any updates of any kind. All correspondence with the alleged owners Arthur Meyerovich and Alina Kaganovsky were never answered so we’re assuming the site has been abandoned although it made us wonder why they didn’t just pull the entire site down.

Now Nikki has her lawyer’s sites set on another blog called interestingly enough ‘Deadline Hollweird’ which uses pretty much the same logo that Deadline Hollywood uses with just the ‘wood’ replaced with ‘weird’. The only problem they’ve had is that they can’t figure out who owns the site since it was registered under ‘Privacy Post’ which is meant to mask the domain owner’s identity, although anyone can find out who owns a domain very easily even with this privacy restriction. Best Movies Ever had seen the site a while back and thought it was more like Fark which works as a news aggregator putting funny titles on the stories. While using a very similar logo could confuse readers to think that it’s affiliated with Finke’s site, a trademark infringement wouldn’t hold up in court. Never the less, Deadline Hollyweird hasn’t posted anything since November 18, 2010 so we’re assuming they were already hearing about Finke’s famous temper and litigious side so they stopped rather than change their site.

As of yesterday, the only thing showing up on the site is the above image with the comment “Did you ever have one of those days?” Even their Facebook page has quickly been taken down.
So Nikki Finke wins another round of stopping blogs dead in their tracks for infringing on her Deadline Hollywood. The Hollywood Reporter broke this story and added a lot of conspiracy sounding stories about Deadline Hollyweird being run by CAA or another of the countless people who she’s crossed, but it seems more like just another blogsite (that was relatively new) trying to make a quick ad buck. Finke is definitely letting people know that she’ll take you down if she feels that you’re infringing on her. While most people have no clue who Nikki Finke is, in the small world of entertainment, everyone’s knows to tread with caution with her since she takes no crap from anyone.
