Proving that not everyone in Utah disapproves of Ryan Murphy’s The New Normal, KUCW has stepped up to air the controversial family show on Saturdays as a lead-in for Saturday Night Live. Check out the latest clips below.

Last week it looked like those One Million Moms struck a blow to Ryan Murphy’s The New Normal when Utah based KSL-TV refused to air it as they said it, “For our brand, this program simply feels inappropriate on several dimensions, especially during family viewing time.” Murphy hasn’t been surprised at the controversy surrounding the show. I’m more curious to know if those One Million Moms have watched it yet now that you can see the Pilot episode online.

I just got to watch it today, and it definitely is a heartwarming one. Even my very Southern, Southern Baptist grandparents watched it and admitted to liking it. They were wanting to hate it as every time I mentioned the name, they made that noise grandparents do when they disapprove of something. Thankfully, they trust my judgement and grudgingly watched it this afternoon, and it was great to see that Ryan Murphy knew how to create a family comedy that didn’t make those who hate the idea of gay marriage feel they had the right to judge. For me, seeing signs up in my neighbors lawns stating that you should say no to gay marriage to protect the children is just very odd. Growing up, I had five cousins that needed a lot of protection from their straight parents for all the abuse they were forced to take.

The whole argument about marriage has never made sense to me since it doesn’t interfere with other people’s lives. Most of the time it gets used as a political polarizing subject to make people afraid of something that just doesn’t exist. Okay, enough of the soapbox now.

Now, another Utah based station stood up and knowing they can make some ad dollars from the show is airing it. Good for them for not cowing in to undo political pressure.

After watching the show, I can see how personal this one is for Murphy, and you can tell that any attacks on it definitely affect him deeply. It’s his baby, and he definitely wants to protect it from all the ignorance out there. When you see how many messed up children come out of the so-called normal families that we keep hearing about, a little ‘abnormal’ could have done many of these kids some good.

Hi Shanta. Loved the pilot! So glad everyone in Utah can see it. I know people posted doubt about the validity of some of your Glee scoop on the upcoming season, but u must have some good connections w/Ryan Murphy's productions or he must love you, since you always have good info&clips from his shows.
