A slightly different trailer for Peter Jackson’s new trilogy, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, opened for Brave when it hit theaters, and now you can check it out below plus new images. It’s four seconds more and you can compare the two to find the additions of Martin Freeman and Sir Ian McKellan.

When it comes to The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, four seconds of extra footage is a lot now! After the reception at Cinema Con to his use of 48 frames per second over the standard 24 frames, there’s not been much new coming out of the Peter Jackson camp. The film opens this December, so I’m sure once September hits, we’ll see more marketing kick-in on this film. It doesn’t seem like this one is getting people as excited even though they know what the man did for The Lord Of the Rings. I’m sure once summer is over, people will be ready for a big movie like this. I know I’m looking forward to seeing what he’ll be doing with the new technology.

Thanks to The One Ring, people know that this one hit online, but it’s not had that much action surprisingly. Now if you don’t feeling going frame by frame to see what’s new, here’s a quick breakdown for you:
0:23 — Bilbo’s reaction to Gandalf’s arrival
1:57 — Bilbo hiding behind a tree in Mirkwood
1:59 — Gandalf, the dwarves, and Bilbo running through a forest
They’re both below so for those that want to compare, enjoy!

Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever … Gollum.
Here, alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths of guile and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum’s “precious” ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities … A simple, gold ring that is tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot begin to know.
