Michael Phelps had already said he planned to retire from swimming after the 2012 London Olympic Games, and he made it one to remember as he broke history and added more medals after that. Ryan Lochte got the most press, but Phelps got he sweetest victory, and here’s the photo journey from it.

NBC reaped the best ratings with the 2012 London Olympic Games, and Michael Phelps is certainly one of the biggest reasons as this was his final Olympics and he’s declared that he’s retiring from the sport leaving it up to Ryan Lochte, Ricky Berens and Conor Dwyer to continue his legacy in 2016.
