With all the build-up for the latest ‘Avengers’ movie Super Bowl spot, Marvel is also giving away an ‘Avengers’ movie comic tie-in for free today on their new app so check it out below.

You have to give it to Marvel for knowing how to promote one of the most anticipated films of this year, and ‘The Avengers‘ is getting a great build up with this comic book tie in that shows what’s happened up to where the movie begins.

This Avengers series is written by Eric Pearson and Christopher Yost, with art by Luke Ross and it looks like it’ll be a bridge between the ‘Thor‘ and ‘Captain America: The First Avenger‘ movies and the upcoming ‘Avengers‘ movie. Definitely a smart move, but we also know that Joss Whedon explained this week in his Twitter Twat fest that the audience won’t have to have seen the previous two movies to sink right in to the ‘Avengers’. Doing the comic book just helps build up great anticipation for the bigger fans who are getting a little tired of the boring character banners that keep popping up each week. Of course, you just press on the image and it’ll blow up to full size.

“We’ve worked hand-in-hand with Marvel Studios to create an exciting story set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that sets the stage perfectly for the most anticipated film of the summer,” said Axel Alonso, Marvel Editor in Chief. “Now, for the first time. you’ll find out just what happened to some of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes on the road to Marvel’s The Avengers.” After this first freebie, each issue will hit every Tuesday beginning February 14, 2012 as a Marvel Valentine’s Day present…but for a 99 cent price for four issues. Love ain’t always free, but it can be cheap at least!

In this issue Nick Fury comes in shortly after the end of the ‘Thor’ movie and right before ‘Captain America’ is dug up.
