Rian Johnson Readies ‘Looper’ Teaser Preview With Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Just one more day until the ‘Looper’ teaser trailer and the latest shows more of Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the young Bruce Willis trying to kill his future self. Does that mean if he succeeds he would just keep jumping back 30 years when he close to that age?

Day three has hit of the Rian Johnson/Joseph Gordon-Levitt ‘Looper’ pre-teaser preview marketing machine, and this latest trailer shows a big more of Levitt attempting to kill future self Bruce Willis and realizing that it won’t be such an easy task. Yesterday we showed a cool makeup comparison video with images, and we’ve got some more new ones to check out before the teaser trailer hits tomorrow. With the way they’re pushing a teaser trailer, imagine the buildup to the actual trailer itself. Maybe Gordon-Levitt will do a makeup striptease each day before the trailer hits showing each layer revealed each day. Having to endure a daily three hours in the makeup chair definitely would make for many layers.

This one will get a lot of push over the summer 2012 blockbuster bonanza since it opens in September and you know they’ll be pushing for an Oscar nomination for makeup as much as it’s been discussed.

Looper Movie Synopsis
In the futuristic action thriller Looper, time travel will be invented – but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper” – a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) – is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good… until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination.

With Gordon-Levitt's eyes changed, I think he looks more like a younger Robert Patrick than a younger Bruce Willis. Still, he looks pretty cool.

Again, you're a little off on the premise. Bruce Willis is sent back to be killed by his younger self.

Aha! So it's more like the flip side of Time Cop :P Cool. Bruce Willis sent back to kill his younger self... can you say really bad time causality loop end of the world (maybe) idea? Hahahaha...

Actually it's nothing like Jumper. Joes character doesn't have a "special" talent. He is an assassin for the mob in the future. In his time , 2042, time travel hasn't even been invented yet. The mob who he works for sends him targets to kill because disposing of bodies is harder in the future. One day, his future self is sent back from 2072 when time travel has been invented.

So, this character is like the one from Jumper with a "special" talent, he can jump through time and has looped on his own past, so his future self is trying to break the causality loop he created? This was hinted at in the movie Jumper and Goulds novels.
