Joss Whedon’s ‘Avengers 2′ Rumors Already Flying Faster Than Iron Man

Joss Whedon’s Avengers 2 doesn’t start shooting until next year, but that’s not stopped the rumors flying around like the latest of Ms Marvel popping in along with Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man. Emily Blunt and Ruth Wilson are duking it out for the latest role.

The good thing about all the Avengers 2 rumors is that while the script is still being written, some may inspire Joss Whedon to include for the upcoming sequel that begins production next year. The latest combined with Andrew Garfield’s Amazing Spider-Man popping in for an in person cameo comes from the Daily Mail claiming that Emily Blunt and Ruth Wilson are both vying for the role of fan favorite Ms Marvel.

Many scoff at this one coming from the Daily Mail, but they’ve gotten some pretty outrageous sounding rumors correct. Remember when they said that James Bond Daniel Craig would be parachuting into the 2012 London Olympic Games Opening Ceremony with the Queen? People scoffed but they got it right as they have many times so this is one of those that will see where it goes. Here’s what the tabloid had to say about this one.

British actresses Emily Blunt and Ruth Wilson are head-to-head in a race for the most sought-after new female role in Hollywood.

Emily, 29, below, star of The Young Victoria, and Ruth, 30, from TV’s Luther, are both hotly tipped to play superhero Ms Marvel in Avengers 2, the sequel to Avengers Assemble, one of the biggest box office hits of all time.

The new movie is due to begin shooting next year. Whoever is chosen will star alongside Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr and Chris Hemsworth, who will reprise their comic-book hero roles.

Ms Marvel has always been quite the fanboys Marvel favorite and before her transformation, she was known as Carol Danvers. After getting caught in an explosion, in which she was seriously injured and resurfaced with superhuman abilities and then became the hero known as Ms. Marvel in her self-titled comic series back in 1977. The energy exposure from the explosion caused Danver’s genetic structure to meld with Captain Marvel’s and turns her into a human-Kree hybrid. This results in superhuman strength, endurance, stamina, flight, physical durability, a sixth sense, and she’s virtually indestructible.

Blunt has seen her career on quite the upswing taking on a wide variety of roles including the latest Joseph Gordon-Levitt Looper sci-fi actioner. Ruth Wilson will be seeing in the upcoming Johnny Depp Armie Hammer The Lone Ranger film so it could be an interesting choice for Whedon in such a meaty role.

There’ll be four more Marvel films hitting the big screen before Avengers 2 hits in 2015, but for films of this size, it’s normal to start casting bigger roles for newcomers since they’ll more than likely have quick cameos in the other Marvel films like Iron Man 3, Thor 2 Dark World or even the upcoming Captain America sequel. I’m hoping this one turns out right since Ms Marvel would be a great addition to Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson and the gang. The Spider-Man rumor is still being floated out there, but we’ll let you know once we hear a little more on this.
