Joss Whedon Reacts To Buffy The Vampire Slayer Remake
Indie Genius Best Movies Ever
Best Movies Ever loves it when a studio forget that a show like ‘Buffy, The Vampire Slayer‘ was all about a fanbase so they’re idea of remaking this and disregarding that aspect shows the stupidity of Warner Bros

Joss Whedon responded as only he could to the news that Warner Bros is moving forward on their ‘Buffy, The Vampire Slayer‘ movie remake without him or anyone from the original cult classic show. Best Movies Ever has always been a huge fan of Buffy and Angel so hearing this, just makes us shake our heads at studio stupidity. Here’s what Whedon had to say to E! News.
This is a sad, sad reflection on our times, when people must feed off the carcasses of beloved stories from their youths — just because they can’t think of an original idea of their own, like I did with my Avengers idea that I made up myself.
Obviously I have strong, mixed emotions about something like this. My first reaction upon hearing who was writing it was, “Whit Stillman AND Wes Anderson? This is gonna be the most sardonically adorable movie EVER.” Apparently I was misinformed. Then I thought, “I’ll make a mint! This is worth more than all my Toy Story residuals combined!” Apparently I am seldom informed of anything. And possibly a little slow. But seriously, are vampires even popular any more?
I always hoped that Buffy would live on even after my death. But, you know, AFTER. I don’t love the idea of my creation in other hands, but I’m also well aware that many more hands than mine went into making that show what it was. And there is no legal grounds for doing anything other than sighing audibly. I can’t wish people who are passionate about my little myth ill. I can, however, take this time to announce that I’m making a Batman movie. Because there’s a franchise that truly needs updating. So look for The Dark Knight Rises Way Earlier Than That Other One And Also More Cheaply And In Toronto, rebooting into a theater near you.
Leave me to my pain! Sincerely, Joss Whedon.

For those that may not know the history of Buffy, originally it was a 1992 movie starring Kristy Swanson and Luke Perry. “Buffy” found success on TV, creating stars of not only its cast, headlined by Sarah Michelle Gellar, but also series creator Joss Whedon.
Warner Bros. optioned the rights from original movie director Fran Rubel Kuzui and her husband, Kaz Kuzui, as well as Sandollar Productions, run by talent manager Sandy Gallin and singer Dolly Parton.
Who knows why they’ve decided to just act like Whedon wouldn’t be a huge asset to this film since he’s kept Buffy alive in the comic series, but Warner Bros is working hard to keep Twilight type fans happy, but they’ve forgotten that fans of Buffy, The Vampire Slayer are as virulent as a pack of vampires so this project will be watched closely, and I’ll make sure we’ve got some good sources on the crew of this one.
