Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Rian Johnson’s ‘Looper‘ marketing begins today with the teaser for the teaser trailer and it’s looking as promising as we knew it would.

Of course, there will be those that’ll say Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Bruce Willis prosthetic will be distracting, but as they’ll see when the ‘Looper’ actual teaser trailer hits later this week, it was all for naught. We’ve already seen the trailer clip at Wonder-Con, and no, it’s not distracting. It looks more like Gordon-Levitt feasted down at Old Country Buffet and beefed up.

The story is pretty cool about a world where time travel exists, but it’s only used on the black market and mainly for hitmen. If you want to kill someone, they are sent 30 years into the past where Ed, the helpful contract killer (Gordon-Levitt) does the job. The kicker in the film is that Gordon-Levitt’s future self (Bruce Willis) is sent to the past so he can in effect commit a form of suicide ‘Terminator‘ style.

In many other hands, ‘Looper’ would be just another straight to dvd sounding film, but Rian Johnson and Gordon-Levitt team up again to make a very sweet and highly anticipated sci-fi action movie.

Looper Movie Synopsis
In the futuristic action thriller Looper, time travel will be invented – but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper” – a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) – is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good… until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination.

Wait a minute now, let me get this straight, we now have a trend where first there is a video which shows clips of a teaser of the trailer and acts as a countdown as to when the teaser trailer will be released, which is again a showcase of a few clips of the actual trailer and also acts as a countdown to the main trailer. Haven't you ever heard of the phrase curiosity kills the FAN.

From what I've observed, it's been the norm since Prometheus. "Trailer Countdown Preview" I laugh every time. This is getting ridiculous, even more-so than commercials before the previews in theaters.

"When did this trailer for the trailer thing become the norm? Was I napping or something? We're now advertising for advertisements? Maybe that's what happens when you give iTunes the exclusive -- they demand that you make another video. Already got the trailer you worked real hard on? Great. Now make another trailer so we can make people want to see the trailer you made."
