Finally, the ‘Dark Shadows‘ movie marketing begins! The Tim Burton Johnny Depp collaboration of Barnabas Collins finally has stepped it up today with a trailer and some great new hi-res-images that you can see below. This one looks like it’s in the vein of ‘The Brady Bunch Movie‘ meets ‘Beetlejuice‘ which is a great thing!

You’ll see when the trailer starts, you think that it’s going to be that Tim Burton creepy horror film, but after Johnny Depp’s Barnabas Collins comes back to life after 200 years, we realize it’s going to be funny…and from this trailer, really funny. It definitely reminded me of ‘The Brady Bunch Movie’ which can be a great great thing since I thought that was brilliantly done. So for all you ‘Dark Shadows‘ fans wanting the pure goth feel of the original, it doesn’t look like that will be happening, but this looks like it’ll be a great fun summer movie! For those that loved the Brady Movie (the first one, not the weak sequel) then you know what I mean. It’s also got that splash of ‘Beetlejuice’ feel so it looks like Burton’s going to have a great year with ‘Frankenweenie‘ hitting for Halloween, just when the blu-ray/dvd of this ‘Dark Shadows’ movie will be landing.

Just last week, we were wondering why there hadn’t been a trailer and just a handful of images aside from the movie set ones we found, so our questions were quickly answered today with this cool trailer and a load of hi-res images to check out.

Two centuries later, Barnabas is inadvertently freed from his tomb and emerges into the very changed world of 1972. He returns to Collinwood Manor to find that his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin. The dysfunctional remnants of the Collins family have fared little better, each harboring their own dark secrets. Matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard (Pfeiffer) has called upon live-in psychiatrist, Dr. Julia Hoffman (Helena Bonham Carter), to help with her family troubles. Also residing in the manor is Elizabeth’s ne’er-do-well brother, Roger Collins, (Jonny Lee Miller); her rebellious teenage daughter Carolyn Stoddard (Chloe Moretz); and Roger’s precocious 10-year-old son, David Collins (Gulliver McGrath). The mystery extends beyond the family, to caretaker Willie Loomis (Haley) and David’s new nanny, Victoria Winters, played by Bella Heathcote.
