The ‘End Of Watch‘ trailer with Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña wasn’t so great, but the clips shown at Comic Con definitely changed many people’s minds on the film, and here’s some new images to check out below.

The trailer for ‘End Of Watch‘ looked like something we’d seen many times before or a ‘Cops‘ uncensored episode, but after director David Ayer screened three very different but powerful clips at Comic Con, it looked much better. Ayer wrote Training Day and wrote and directed 2006’s Harsh Times which focused on corrupt policeman, but this time Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña play the good guys as cops. It seems like a very long time since we’ve had a movie where the cops are good guys just trying to do their job. Even the docu-style shooting works since it makes you feel like you’re part of the film rather than just watching it. Gyllenhaal and Peña really shine, and they’re chemistry sparks wonderfully. I’ve noticed the Gyllenhaal seems to have the best chemistry on the big screen with guys so hopefully that will keep him doing more films in this vein.

A powerful story of family, friendship, love, honor and courage, End Of Watch stars Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña as young Los Angeles police officers Taylor and Zavala as they patrol the city’s meanest streets of south central Los Angeles. Giving the story a gripping, first-person immediacy, the action unfolds entirely through footage from the handheld HD cameras of the police officers, gang members, surveillance cameras, and citizens caught in the line of fire to create a riveting portrait of the city’s darkest, most violent corners, the cops who risk their lives there every day, and the price they and their families are forced to pay.
