Get Ready For A Killer Silent Night, Deadly Night Remake

Santa Claus is back to punish the naughty again in this remake of the 1984 controversial Silent Night, Deadly Night, now renamed just Silent Night and loosely based on the original. Check out the new images below.

Just in time for the Christmas Holiday, Anchor Bay is set to release Silent Night, the remake of Silent Night Deadly Night in theaters and then soon after on blu-ray/dvd which you can pre-order.

Some of you may not be familiar with this controversial at the time movie, but it raised quite the stink during the early 80′s even though another slasher Christmas film came before it in the form of Christmas Evil. PTA’s around the country fought to have the film banned which only helped give it much more press than it every would have received.

Silent Night Deadly Night wasn’t a bad film and you can check out some of the ‘best of’ clips from the film below, but I’m curious to see what this loosely based on remake will be like. There’s not a trailer for it yet, but since it’ll be hitting ‘select’ theaters in North America, one should be coming soon. Hopefully it’ll be much better than that atrocious Dimension Films remake of Black Christmas, another classic horror film that needed no remake.

I’m hoping I can get Anchor Bay to send over a review copy as I love these types of films and always felt that Christmas Evil deserved more attention, and that’s one horror film that deserves a good remake as it had some really great ideas that just didn’t get delivered quite right.

Silent Night Movie Synopsis

A loose remake of the horror classic Silent Night, Deadly Night, the film’s stellar cast includes Malcolm McDowell (Rob Zombie’s Halloween, Easy A), Jaime King (Sin City, My Bloody Valentine 3D), Donal Logue (Shark Night 3D, Blade), Lisa Marie (Sleepy Hollow), Brendan Fehr (Final Destination, X-Men First Class), and Ellen Wong (Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World).

McDowell and King star as a small-town sheriff and deputy on the hunt for a murderous Santa Claus terrorizing their community on Christmas Eve. But with the streets full of Santas for the annual Christmas parade, the killer is hiding in plain sight. He’s made his list, checked it twice, and the naughty are going to pay with their lives.
