‘The Expendables 2‘ marketing machine seems to need a little more oil or something since it’s been creaking slowly along, but here’s some more action shots of Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li, Liam Hemsworth and Bruce Willis who’s got two big movies out this summer along with ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation‘ and then ‘Looper‘ with Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Hopefully, the fact that ‘The Expendables 2′ marketing has been so low key is just to keep under the radar and surprise us with something good. Unlike the first “Expendables” movie which you couldn’t miss it from a mile away, this one has been a pretty quiet affair, aside from the Chuck Norris ‘R’ to ‘PG-13′ and back to ‘R’ rating controversy. It’s an amazing ensemble cast of every 80′s action hero you could imagine, and I hope it’s good. Rumors keep hitting that Stallone is already talking up ‘Expendables 3′ (many times by Steven Seagal (Lawman, Steven Seagal that is), but we heard about ‘Rocky’ for years before ‘Rocky Balboa‘ ever got made. The mess that appears to be Stallone’s ‘Bullet To the Head‘ won’t bode well for a studio to plunk down more money so hopefully this latest caper will do the trick…if it’s good at least. I loved the first one, and I’m not sure if it was more for nostalgia sake (even though I was barely out of diapers when these guys were in their heyday, but sometimes we yearn for times before we were born. Hell, look at politics today when everyone still keeps yearning for a magical 1950′s montage.

The Expendables 2 Movie Synopsis
The Expendables are back and this time it’s personal… Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), Yin Yang (Jet Li), Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren),Toll Road (Randy Couture) and Hale Caesar (Terry Crews) — with newest members Billy the Kid (Liam Hemsworth) and Maggie (Yu Nan) aboard — are reunited when Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) enlists the Expendables to take on a seemingly simple job. The task looks like an easy paycheck for Barney and his band of old-school mercenaries. But when things go wrong and one of their own is viciously killed, the Expendables are compelled to seek revenge in hostile territory where the odds are stacked against them. Hell-bent on payback, the crew cuts a swath of destruction through opposing forces, wreaking havoc and shutting down an unexpected threat in the nick of time — six pounds of weapons-grade plutonium; enough to change the balance of power in the world. But that’s nothing compared to the justice they serve against the villainous adversary who savagely murdered their brother. That is done the Expendables way….

For me, a movie is guilty until proven innocent. It has to prove it's good before I can actually like it. I can't like everything pre-emptively, I'd be setting myself up for huge disappointments. Given that there IS a chance this movie will suck (only a chance), then I won't concede it's awesome until I've seen it in theaters.
