The Disappearance Of Alice Creed was one of those films that I noticed every so often advertised on Facebook, but it wasn’t until I watched it the other night that I saw how underrated this smart this film is with some great tension and topsy turvy moments.
For me, there’s simply no way to really dig into the excellent film “The Disappearance of Alice Creed” without giving so much of the great stuff away that you’d be pissed off with us for doing that. We hate it when reviewers or trailers give away all the great stuff. So we’ll just skip over the good stuff (and there’s a lot of good stuff!) and just say that if you’re like us and like not knowing where the story’s going, good drama, outstanding acting and taut tension, check out The Disappearance Of Alice Creed since it’s out on Demand now. Best horror movies ever also suggests not checking out the trailer since that gives away some of the stuff too. This is one of those films that we went in knowing nothing about it, and we just didn’t see things coming which we love. It’s the kind of horror/suspense film that makes you love watching them and forgetting all those shitty Saw types.
So here’s what we can tell you about the film that makes it so worth watching. The Disappearance Of Alice Creed starts as two shady characters board up windows, change locks and tack up soundproofing in a dingy apartment. Wordlessly they construct their own Fort Knox and for a good five to ten minutes, we don’t know why. Soon they’re on the move and kidnap a young woman who they tie, ball-gag and drag back to the newly formed cell. Nary a word has been spoken and already the plot is fully in motion but viewers have no real sense of what’s going on. Is this a torture porn? Is it a revenge plot? We just don’t know and this adds a creepy, confusing element to the film. Just having a script and story that’s strong enough to let the actors tell the story without uttering a word for so long is another reason why best horror movies ever can highly recommend this film.
We soon learn the kidnappers are Danny (Compston) and Vic (Marsan) and they’ve snagged a girl (Arteton) with a very, very rich daddy. Vic is the man with a plan and Danny is the subordinate and that’s all I’m going to say about the plot aside from, it’s never what you expect. And that’s all best horror movies ever will give you on The Disappearance Of Alice Creed. Trust us, as you all do, this is one of those great underrated films (that got killer reviews) that you’ll tell your friends about.
