Last season was a little ho-hum on Michael C. Hall’s ‘Dexter‘ but that quickly changed with the season finale which was a long time coming, and will easily reinvigorate the hit Showtime series for the next two seasons. Here’s the latest plus some new images.

The nice thing is that ho-hum for a series like ‘Dexter‘ is brilliant compared to many other things that get pumped out, but we expect a lot from Michael C. Hall’s multi-faceted likeable killer. If you’ve read even the first book in the series, you knew that sister Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) finds out about Dexter’s dark side much sooner than seven seasons so thankfully the producers knew it was time to keep her out of the dark. This season promises the same energy that we’ve seen in Edie Falco’s ‘Nurse Jackie‘ with the brilliant addition of Bobby Cannavale, so expect some major improvements and reminders of why we love this show so much!

Last season’s loopy plotline of Deb thinking that she was in love with Dexter and could make a life with him will be ended thankfully with the first episode where she asks the same question he’s been asking himself all along “Who are you?” (which is also the title of that episode). Many fans are already complaining that this could be their ‘jump the shark’ season, but the producers remember what made the first four seasons of the show so amazing (much like what the producers on Nurse Jackie went through) so I expect something great from this shake up. Also, our sources over there have said that Deb holding the gun on her brother is just her self defense posture since she was rushing over there to tell him that she loved him, and now her world is once again shaken to the ground. “Viewers might think we shy away from that moment of Debra walking in and seeing Dexter stabbing into Travis’ chest, but it’s just the opposite… She now has to deal with what she’s seen and what she knows. And it forces him to defend and define himself.” Interestingly enough, the producer said that the producers have also said that they’ll continue dealing with Deb’s feelings for Dexter. “It’s ironic that people are fine with Dexter jabbing people in the heart but mortified by this romance,” says Scott Buck. “We’re not shying away from those feelings of hers, either.”

Guest stars joining the show for Season 7 are in abundance and include: Ray Stevenson, Jason Gedrick, Yvonne Strahovski, Matt Gerald, and Katia Winter. We already know that Ray Stevenson will be playing a Ukrainian strip club owner named Sirko, and Yvonne Strahovski will be the latest killer to work with Dexter. If you remember her from ‘Chuck‘, you know we’re in for quite the killer treat with this lady.

‘Dexter’ is back on the air Sunday, September 30, 2012 on Showtime with a big bloody bang! Naturally, we’ll have our review up much sooner for you all.
