Johnny Depp and Tim Burton had been huge fans of Dark Shadows and are finally bringing it to the big screen. They’ll start shooting in April 2011 for their next project together.

Best Movies Ever grew up watching repeats of Dark Shadows aka The House Of Dark Shadows, and obviously Johnny Depp and Tim Burton did the same thing. When we were discussing the West Memphis Three project with Depp back in 2003, we found out about his passion for the goth 60′s soap opera along with his wanting to play Barnabas Collins. After trying to get their schedules in order, the two have finally been able to get a date set to start shooting this highly anticipated movie.
Now for those of not familiar with Dark Shadows, it deals with the 175 year-old vampire Barnabas Collins who has been trapped in his coffin since 1795. When he is finally released he has to adapt to his new surroundings. This is obvious well worn Burton Depp territory ala Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood and all the others they’ve done together.

Best Movies Ever has already found that, not surprising, Helena Bonham Carter will be in Dark Shadows too. There’s only been one film announced that doesn’t have his favorite two actors and that’s his remake of his classic Frankenweenie (which we’re hearing is up in the air now).
The most recent script was handed in by Seth Graham-Smith, who knows a thing or two about vampires. His novel, Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter, is getting the big screen adaptation. He also wrote Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, so he knows a thing or two about taking other people’s work and adding gore.
