Most sports films are more than just the sport they’re depicting, and Clint Eastwood’s Trouble With the Curve is no different starring Amy Adams and Justin Timberlake. The first trailer has hit along with a bunch of new images of the gang.

I’m a sucker for any good sports movie with heart, and Clint Eastwood’s Trouble With the Heart looks to satisfy that need with a really nice cast including Amy Adams, Justin Timberlake, John Goodman, Robert Patrick, Matthew Lillard and Clint’s son Scott Eastwood. It’s great to see Lillard back after being pretty much MIA, and John Goodman is just a treat for any film he’s in. Most of Eastwood’s films are quiet affairs with marketing, but this one looks like it could be the right thing for Academy Award nomination time.

In this one, Eastwood plays an aging scout whose daughter (Amy Adams) agrees to accompany him on one last crucial recruiting trip. Adams has pulled off some amazing roles, and this one looks like it’ll really let her shine. Unlike many sports films which love to overuse the win from behind plot device, this one looks more about a character study of a father and daughter who are trying to rebuild before he’s gone. A lot of his later films have had that theme, and it looks like he might have the right story for it too.
