Classic Cult Indie Horror Ready For Some ‘Excision’ Giveaway

Excision is easily a classic cult indie horror film, but it’s not for the meek, so those of you that liked Teeth or May, here’s your chance to get a blu-ray copy of the film for yourself. We absolutely loved it, and for any lover of indie horror, this ones a keeper!

Excision made quite the splash at Sundance, and after watching it, it’s easy to know why. AnnaLynn McCord puts in a spectacular performance at playing a very unhappy and frequently unpleasant teenage girl called Pauline (McCord) who infuriates her demanding mother (Traci Lords), disgusts most of her high school peers, and spend much of her down time dreaming of exceedingly disturbing things. Excision Movie Synopsis

Excision turned critics’ stomachs as well as heads, garnering much attention at festivals around the world this past year after premiering at Sundance in January, with the most recent being Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal QB. Noel Murray of AV Club calls it “One of the damnedest ‘adolescent misfit’ movies you’ll ever see — for those who can stomach the splatter, that is” and Chris Bumbray of JoBlo exclaims “While it’s more than a little sick, and will likely leave you queasy by the time the credits roll, EXCISION is nonetheless a truly unique horror ride into the scariest of all places- the mind of a teenaged misfit.” Excision holds a 94% “want to see” rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Upcoming NA festival showings include Toronto After Dark (October 26), the SpookyMovie festival in Washington D.C. and the Mile-High Horror Film Festival in Denver.

Based on writer/director Richard Bates, Jr.’s short film of the same name, Excision follows a disturbed and delusional high school student, Pauline (AnnaLynne McCord). Pauline, with aspirations of a career in medicine, goes to extremes to earn the approval of her controlling mother (played by Traci Lords). While dealing with both being an outcast teenager and having an obsession over curing her sister’s cystic fibrosis, Pauline becomes increasingly deranged as her fascination with surgery and flesh and blood grows into something compulsive and demonic, if not epic.
