It’s a Nicholas Sparks love fest without Nicholas Sparks as Channing Tatum & Rache McAdams take ‘The Vow‘ for Valentine’s Day. Check out the trailers and images below to see if it can jerk some tears from you or make you want to jerk something else.

So Nicholas Sparks alumni Rachel McAdams (The Notebook) and Channing Tatum (Dear John) are back working the romance for Valentine’s Day in a movie not based on something by Nicholas Sparks. ‘The Vow‘ is based on a true story though so you can groan now. In the trailer it felt like it could be a less funny ‘50 First Dates‘ crossed with Sandra Bullock’s ‘While You Were Sleeping’.

Basically, Tatum and McAdams play a couple in love who get into an accident. The wife (McAdams) goes into a coma while Channing, doing his best to keep from his ‘wooden acting’ technique, waits, but then she wakes up with no memory of him. So…he gets to make her fall in love all over again with him. Now you can say awww….

As you’ll see Channing Tatum made this film before he really bulked up as he looks in ‘21 Jump Street‘ and ‘Magic Mike‘ where he’s got the weird ‘roid’ bloat look. McAdams knows how to play these roles inside and out so it looks sweet enough for a Valentine’s Day getaway. I’m sure some will wish that this could really happen to them to get an easy out from their unhappy relationships, but that would be a Neil Labute kinda movie then. Don’t forget twisted one, ‘The Human Centipede Full Sequence‘ comes out on dvd right on Valentine’s Day so there are alternatives.

Starring Rachel McAdams, Jessica Lange, Channing Tatum, Wendy Crewson, Sam Neill, Scott Speedman, Lucas Bryant, Tatiana Maslany, Jeananne Goossen and directed by Michael Sucsy.
