Everyone’s favorite Angel and FBI agent Seeley Booth’s David Boreanaz has a birthday today, and he’ll be spending the upcoming weekend sharing some advice to the 2013 graduating class at Ithaca College. All of you have sent us plenty of his images and a couple even sent in videos for his birthday so we’re putting up all the images and the videos. Be warned, there’s close to a thousand images of the man so you’ll have plenty to look at plus we’ve put together a fun sexy set if you’re just looking for those types that are safe for work.

Now on to some Bones Season 9 stuff. There are some spoilers below so if you want to avoid, just skip on down below to the images and videos. The season ended with that evil little troll Pelant (played perfectly by guest star Andrew Leeds) putting Seeley and Brennan’s (Emily Deschanel) relationship and future in peril. The plots seemed to cool down a bit once the baby came in the picture so at least they’re spicing it up again. You can understand why Boreanaz said he wasn’t sure about returning for Season 8. I thought the show would end after this one but they perked it up to keep it going and keep us coming back.

It was heartbreaking when Booth had to break off the engagement without being able to say why and next season will begin with a jump in time showing the strain in their relationship. Naturally Peland will get caught, but that’s not going to do anything to heal what’s been done between them. Booth’s son Parker will be back too after quite a long absence. Now here’s all the info on that commencement speach he’ll be giving. An interesting note is that many of the students he’ll be speaking to were born the same year he graduated from the college.

Television and film actor David Boreanaz will return to his alma mater to deliver the main address at Ithaca College’s 118th Commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 19. He is best known for his starring roles on the television series “Bones,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Angel.”

Boreanaz will speak to some 1,610 graduates and their guests at the 10:00 a.m. ceremony at Butterfield Stadium. He earned his degree in cinema and photography in 1991 from the Roy H. Park School of Communications.

Also making remarks at Commencement will be Ithaca College president Tom Rochon, senior class president Rachel Heiss and board of trustees chairman Tom Grape ’80.

For the past eight years, Boreanaz has earned rave reviews as FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth on the Fox crime drama “Bones,” where he helps bring justice for murder victims. He also serves as one of the show’s producers and has directed a number of episodes, including the season-ender which aired on April 29.

Boreanaz had gone to Hollywood shortly after graduating from Ithaca College, working a series of odd jobs before breaking into show business as an uncredited extra in such films as “Aspen Extreme” and then earning a guest-starring role as Kelly Bundy’s biker boyfriend on the television series “Married… with Children.”

But it wasn’t until 1997 that Boreanaz was thrust into the limelight — if not the daylight — when he was cast as the vampire-with-a-soul Angel on the WB network’s “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” For three seasons he played Buffy’s on-again/off-again 242-year-old love interest as the series gained a cult following. His character became so popular that a spin-off was created, giving him the opportunity to headline his own series for another five seasons.

Boreanaz has his share of big-screen acting credits as well, including the thriller “Valentine,” sports drama “The Mighty Macs,” black comedy “Suffering Man’s Charity” and crime drama “Officer Down.” He can be heard as the voice of the superhero Green Lantern in the animated feature “Justice League: The New Frontier.” On the stage, he has starred in off-Broadway’s “Spalding Gray: Stories Left to Tell” as well as in productions of “Hat Full of Rain,” “Fool for Love” and “Italian-American Reconciliation.”

In 2001, the Ithaca College Alumni Association recognized him with the Outstanding Young Alumni Award. In 2011, the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters jointly honored Boreanaz and his father — former longtime Philadelphia TV weatherman Dave Roberts — with its gold medal.

NBC finally put the show that everyone loved to hate Smash out of its misery, but it also axed Ryan Murphy’s The New Normal which had gotten some controversy before it even aired. The final episode of the the season felt like Murphy already knew that his somewhat autobiographical show would be cancelled. It was no surprise about Smash as it started out as a hit last season but then suddenly became just a confusing mess that you couldn’t stop watching. The second season was quickly moved to the Saturday night graveyard signalling the show was just going to get burned off with no coming back. It just proves that replacing a lot of moving parts doesn’t always fix the problem.

At least NBC is finally realizing that testing out some different types of programming can help bring them back from last place as Hannibal has proven for them. Yes, I know the ratings for the series have fluctuated, but at least NBC is showing that they’re not afraid of trying new things to bring viewers back. Hannibal feels like one of those shows that easily would have been a fit on HBO or Showtime, and it’s great to see something that fresh on a network station. Just hopefully NBC realizes just how good this show is and doesn’t start tinkering to dilute it down.

Ryan Murphy had a lot of irons in the fire this past year with a much improved American Horror Story: Asylum, Glee and The New Normal. It’s rare to keep things going and consistent when you’ve got so many different shows going on so at least now he can focus on another great season of AHS while he continues Glee for another two season. Glee did feel a little more solid this season (and that’s saying a lot after last season’s mess), and we’re hearing that he’ll be bringing the gang to one spot rather than splitting things up like this season.

Murphy’s reality competition The Glee Project was announced to be cancelled when negotiations for Glee were looking doubtful, but now we hear that there’ll be anther season since Glee has two more seasons left. It looks like filming will happen in this fall with a possibility for the winner to appear in the Spring 2014 season. Big thing will be getting Oxygen on board, and I can’t really see why they wouldn’t as this is one of the best reality shows out there. I’ve always been tough on Murphy with Glee, but he has a winner with his Glee Project.

Beverly Hills Cop was a pretty high profile project in development, but CBS wound up passing on it. I’m sure it’ll be shopped around elsewhere, but we’re hearing it doesn’t look likely to land a home any time soon.

Breaking Bad is that rare show I can’t wait to see, but then knowing that it all ends after it’s return on August 11 isn’t such a good feeling. This is that show you can’t wait to see as you never know what the heck Walter White (Bryan Cranston) will do to bring more misery to both his and Jesse’s (Aaron Paul) worlds. These two are such a treat to watch as you can see that they’ve always been meant for each other, but the new uncensored bonus scene on the upcoming blu-ray/dvd release of Season 5 shows that Jesse, Skinny Pete (Charles Baker) and Saul (Bob Odenkirk) conspire to stop Walt’s reign of terror that’s he created.

Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan had this to say on the plot fragment: ‘The extra scene we created exclusively for the Blu-ray and DVD proves just how much the relationship between Jesse and Walt has drastically changed over the past five seasons of Breaking Bad.

‘Chicks ‘N’ Guns is an original idea that presents fans with a pivotal missing moment during Episode 508, Gliding Over All. Writers Jenn Carroll and Gordon Smith, and director Michelle MacLaren, did a fantastic job bringing it to life, and I think fans will love it.’

It’s been a long long time since we last saw the final episode Gliding Over All, but you may remember that there wasn’t much going on between Walt and Jesse as the little guy had left the business, but we got to see Walt bringing cash to his former on again off again partner. That scene ended wtih Jesse removing a hidden gun which could be for necessity or with the idea that he would kill Walt. After the way Mike was dealt with, the bonus scene looks like it could pave the way to what we can expect in the final 8 episodes that promise to be the most explosive ever.

With this show, we wouldn’t expect anything less. Will Jesse finally be driven to kill Walt who’s character has gone from mild mannered family man to ruthless drug kingpin or will he pull back again as he’s just not the killing kind? After seeing yet another child killed, we’ll see if he’s changed or not.

Syfy’s Defiance is defeating the odds and proving that NBC’s risk of combining a game and original science fiction show could be paying off. We spent several days in their Containment Village at SXSW last month, and the smart marketing they’ve done has easily paid off. Now hopefully we’ll be able to get them to finally get us a new laptop since the container we stayed in leaked like you wouldn’t believe destroying our new one.

Jim Bittle from Sub Rosa was kind enough to inquire and see if we’d finally gotten our replacement laptop as the Container company Steel Space confirmed they would be taking care of it, but sadly, we’re still short our much needed laptop. I wouldn’t have minded so much if it was an older one, but it was one of our newer ones and the concierge people down at SXSW were so kind to assure us that we would have no worries getting it replaced, but you know how these things happen. It’s been frustrating since we had such a great trip and that has been the one thing that easily spoiled it as we didn’t raise a fuss about the other damage to our things from the container leak, but you do expect a little more response from the company who admitted the fault. Thanks again Jim for checking in, but as of now, Steel Space has still made no attempt to contact us in any way, shape or form.

Now onward to the good stuff!

Syfy’s new hit series Defiance maintained strong viewership levels during its second episode, drawing 2.4 million total viewers, 1.11 million Adults 25-54 and 1.06 million Adults18-49 in the Monday, April 22 telecast from 9-10PM (ET/PT). Defiance was the #1 cable drama in its time period among both key demos.

Viewers also flocked to the April 15 premiere episode. Including the first 3 days of DVR playback, the Adults 18-49 audience increased to 1.77 million (from 1.3 million live viewers).  The total viewership also grew to 3.5 million (from 2.7 million).

Next week Warehouse 13 joins Defiance with 10 all-new episodes at 10PM, comprising Syfy’s Powerful Mondays programming bloc.

Defiance’s luminous cast includes Grant Bowler, Julie Benz, Stephanie Leonidas, Tony Curran, Jaime Murray, Graham Greene and Mia Kirshner. Set in the near future, Defiance introduces an exotically transformed planet Earth, its landscapes permanently altered following the sudden – and tumultuous – arrival of seven unique alien races.  In this somewhat unknown and unpredictable landscape, the richly diverse, newly-formed civilization of humans and aliens must learn to co-exist peacefully.  Each week, viewers follow an immersive character drama set in the boom-town of Defiance, which sits atop the ruins of St. Louis, Missouri, while in The Game, players experience the new frontier of the San Francisco Bay area.

The series is executive produced by Kevin Murphy (Desperate Housewives, Caprica, Hellcats), who also serves as showrunner, Michael Taylor (Battlestar Galactica) and Rockne O’Bannon (Farscape).  Scott Stewart (Legion, Priest) directed the pilot; Michael Nankin serves as supervising producer/director on the series.  Defiance is produced by Universal Cable Productions.

This is one of those shows that takes a little warming up to as the pilot episode was fine but felt a little retreaded from movies and previous sci-fi shows. It really kicks in after the fourth episode as you connect much better with the characters and the story begins to take on a life of its own. You can catch it every Monday on Syfy at 9 PM (ET). • I was surprised that people actually wondered if Betty (January Jones) and Peggy (Elisabeth Moss) would be returning this season, but they are too ingrained in the plot to not be. Season 7, we’re hearing, that could change.
• Everyone might be ready for Pete Cambell (Vincent Kartheiser) to commit suicide, but that’s definitely not in the cards. You know how he is about image so even the afterlife image would be everything to him. I’m finding some shades of his character on Angel (remember when David Boreanaz’s vamp had the baby that grew up quickly into Kartheiser? He went through some major mood swings too and Pete does have the vampire sucking the life out of anything aura about him).
• Season 6 will take up from 1967 to the even later more tumultuous 60′s. I love that about this show how they jump ahead in time rather than trying to keep a total linear path as they get to cherry pick the most interesting times in history to center their stories around. From what we’re hearing, the pre-Nixon malaise will begin to set in also as that time period also had the feeling of anxiety and the end of things as we know it. While many may still fantasize about going back in time, just watch these types of shows to get a nice dose of reality of what was really happening.
• Watch the Season 5 finale again before heading into this one as that famous “Are you alone?” questions prompted at Don will carry through the first episode.

‘Mad Men‘ returns Sunday for its sixth and nearly final season, and everyone’s jumping back on the 1960′s ad wagon. Our friends at Reminisce have surfaced some ads from that day that even Jon Hamm’s Don Draper would approve of. Check them out below.

We were sad to see Rick Grimes and company leave us with The Walking Dead’s season finale this week, but now we’re ready for Don Draper and crew to return. It’s going to be interesting to see how Mad Men does going up against HBO’s Game Of Thrones, but there’s nothing wrong with a little Mad Men Vs Game Of Thrones action to keep our DVR’s busy. I will say I had to agree with Whoopi Goldberg this week about the season premiere of Thrones as I was expecting more action, especially the way last season left us hanging. Thrones always satisfies, but I was left feeling a little let down, but that also could have been after watching the season finale of The Walking Dead, and for those that saw it, you know what I mean.

So Reminisce Magazine did a great job of finding some very funny and as they put it ‘eyebrow raising’ ads for that time period. Obviously now, they look quaint, but these would definitely fit the bill at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce. You can check out all of the images below and also on the Reminisce Site.

I love that about this show how they jump ahead in time rather than trying to keep a total linear path as they get to cherry pick the most interesting times in history to center their stories around. From what we’re hearing, the pre-Nixon malaise will begin to set in also as that time period also had the feeling of anxiety and the end of things as we know it. While many may still fantasize about going back in time, just watch these types of shows to get a nice dose of reality of what was really happening.
• Watch the Season 5 finale again before heading into this one as that famous “Are you alone?” questions prompted at Don will carry through the first episode.

You know that when there’s a quieter episode of The Walking Dead (although the action was pretty loud internally), the next few episodes are going to get pretty intense, and tonight the Governor attacks the prison as expected and things really unravel for Rick leading him to another ‘I see dead people’, but this time it’s Carl.

It’s no surprise that war is going to break out on tonight’s Season 3 intense Walking Dead episode. When it’s called Prey, it pretty much lets you know that the Governor is ready to attack and do some damage to Rick (Andrew Lincoln) which he does tonight. Also Daryl (Norman Reedus) is finally pushed to make some big decisions about brother Merle. We’ve been seeing this coming for a long time, but everything is hitting the fan tonight.

As we’ve seen building, Andrea is suddenly thrust back into the spotlight as she tries to decide which side she wants to be on, and now she knows she’s got to go up against her bed buddy the Governor. Getting Milton to help her isn’t the best choice as we’ll see what happens with that collaboration. While the Governor goes after someone who’s gone against him, this leaves Woodbury open for Andrea to stir that pot. After all this, she’ll be back with her old buddy Michonne  driving the Governor crazy and going after Rick and Glenn again to force them to say where she is.

Now don’t read any further if you don’t want to be surprised or spoiled, but here’s what we’ve been hearing from the same sources that gave have always been right on, especially with Lori’s death. We’re hearing Daryl better get busy and do his business with Carol as she might be one of the major character to bite the bullet from the Governor. People keep mentioning Judith, but we’ll see. There’s also a lot of talk that Hershel or Beth will be the other major character to go. I could definitely see Beth since her rounds of wanting to sing could bring the zombies out, and I’m hoping it’s her over Hershel any day. I really like his character and how it’s developed so well.

The end of Season 3 will see Rick and the Governor having a resolution and it’ll end with the Governor appearing to have been killed, but this character is way to bad and good for the show to end it so this is where Season 4 will begin. Morgan is looking to make another entrance to save Rick. There will be a traitor in the group, a suicide and naturally Rick will find someone to blame for all this. These next  three episodes are going to be very very intense! It’s the way we love our Walking Dead!

Ellen Hollman’s Saxa survived last season brutal ending of Spartacus: Vengeance, and she’s become a true warrior in the upcoming final season of Spartacus: War Of the Damned with Liam McIntyre. Hollman is just as excited discussing her Germanic character’s development on the Starz hit show as she is talking about her passion project, Visual Impact Now.

As Hollman puts it, Saxa is a woman who will never apologize for her strengths and embracing her weaknesses…which just so happen to be wine, women and her counterpart Gannicus (Dustin Clare). Fingers crossed she makes it onto one of the possible rumored spin-off series…if she survives since no one is ever safe on this show!

Spartacus: War Of the Damned premieres on Starz Friday January 25, and it’s worth the watch! Every season gets better and more brutal and this final one promises to be a memorable one.

Best Movies Ever:  Have you been happy with the character development of Saxa from last season to this third and final season of Spartacus: War Of the Damned?

Ellen Hollman: Happy barely scrapes the surface as to how amazing it was to bring “The Saxinator” full circle. This season we’ll see a savage, Germanic rebel transform into a true warrior. Saxa is a woman who will never apologize for her strengths and embracing her weaknesses…which just so happen to be wine, women and her counterpart Gannicus.

BME: How was it coming in last season and then having your fellow warriors Katrina Law and Lucy Lawless getting massacred?

EH: These ladies managed to make it to the final episode of last season but their demise was untimely indeed. It was a giant torch to carry without their presence but a challenge I looked forward to conquering.

BME: How has your life changed since appearing on Spartacus: Vengeance last season?

EH: I can now jump off a cliffside onto a Roman shield into a 12 beat fight sequence and make it home in time for dinner. Could never do that before, lemme tell ya.

BME: What’s been your strangest and/or funniest fan request?

EH: I recently visited the troops in Kuwait with fellow Sparty cast and one of the volunteers who worked for the USO tour asked if she could have the shirt off my back…. literally. It was a limited edition War of the Damned shirt and she said they never made them in small for the girls since most the volunteers were larger males. I grabbed her hand, brought her on our tour bus and we stripped down to exchange shirts. Despite her grin from ear to ear I doubt anyone will believe her story, ha!

BME: What was your reaction when you found out that this was the final season of Spartacus?

EH: Honestly? We were all excited that they were ‘throwing the kitchen sink’ into the final season, enabling us to be bigger, badder and bloodier than ever before. There was no such thing as pace or save it for a rainy day. It’s was balls to the wall, every day soaring past expectations.

BME: What can we expect from Saxa this season?

EH: Saxa is no longer a feisty kitty with sharp claws, she’s a full grown lioness kicking some major Roman ass. She’s Xena on steroids with a foul mouth to boot…in English this time!

BME: I know you can’t say much, but what can we expect from this final season of Spartacus besides even more battles and bloodshed?

EH: Everyone may be aware of Spartacus’ denouement, but ‘how’ is a dramatic, twisted and heart wrenching surprise.

BME: There’s been plenty of rumors that there will be two possible spin-offs of Spartacus. What are the odds of you returning to either of them?

EH: No one would love to see a litter of Germanic Celts grace the screen more than Gaxa (Saxa/Gannicus). However, the ability to play a character with such intensity and create such a rich presence on screen has been nothing less than an honor and privilege. Whatever may be in the cards has my thumbs up.

BME: Our readers really responded to your workout and fitness tips in our last interview with you. Have you picked up any more that you could share with them?

EH: I’m of course still loyal to my knife training and p90x Ab Ripper but have fallen in love with the torturous art of hot yoga barre and sculpt. They put you in a 90 degree room in front of a ballet bar and make you lift heavy things…you’ll sweat a dress size in an hour.

BME: What else do you have coming up outside of the Spartacus world?

EH: Aside from fighting for freedom against Roman legions, I spend a great deal of time running my non-profit organization, Visual Impact Now. We’ll be hosting the 2013 LA Eye Clinic March 17-24, servicing over 1,000 LAUSD students with visual acuity’s, eye exams and glasses. Its a great way to wrack up the karma points and distract myself from post traumatic Spartacus syndrome!
