Simon Cowell’s troubled X Factor USA begins shooting in Charleston, South Carolina on Tuesday May 21st and he is hoping to drum up some kind of publicity by stating that he won’t announce the new judges today. It’s looking like Kelly Rowland, who really tried hard to get onto last season’s X Factor but was overlooked for Brittany Spears and Demi Lovato will finally get her wish.

The other name out there is Mexican singer/actress Paulina Rubio….I know..who??? In all fairness, Rubio does have a Latin following and she was a coach on the second season of La Voz… Mexico.

Cowell’s been saying that he would like a more female heavy judges panel, but this pairing only shows that it’s not so easy anymore for him to get big names for his show. Once again, it’s another music competition show that spends more time garnering publicity for the judges over the actual contestants.

Just like last season, Cowell’s been making sure to keep names in the press, like Hillary Duff, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Faith Hill. I felt a little sorry for Rowland who’s always had to be in Beyonce’s shadow as last season it was obvious how desperate she was to get on the panel after being a judge on The X Factor UK and it not going so well.

Cowell has already started auditions in a few cities without the judges including Denver and Los Angeles on March 6, 2013. Ten-thousand hopefuls showed up for that but I guess it was just Simon doing the judging with the producers. All I’ve been hearing is that FOX is very nervous about the future of the show as it is with American Idol.

Mario Lopez will return as a sole host as Khloe Kardashian was thankfully put out of her misery and let go. Lopez will be the only host as it was obvious last season he could handle the job quite well without the tedium of a Kardashian.

Price: For just under $500, this is a great camera. It has one of the greatest focal lengths of any bridge camera – out to 1,200mm. However if you don’t need that much of a reach and you are willing to sacrifice two megapixel in resolution and about 400 mm in focal length, the Sony DCS-H200V is also a great camera and almost $200 cheaper.

High ISO Noise: There is only one minor flaw with the HX-300/B that is even worth mentioning – excessive noise at the higher ISOs. From ISO 80 to 800, chroma and luma noise ranges from not noticeable to acceptable, respectively. And of course, excess noise when shooting at high ISOs can always be removed in post-processing – it is just another step that has to be taken.

However, how often do you shoot at an ISO above 800? In most cases, not often, unless you do a lot of low-light photography and then it can be an issue. But for most photographers, an ISO of 800 is about a high as you need.

Is The Sony DSC-HX300/B Worth Buying?

Yes! If you have $500 to spend and are looking for the convenience, control and performance, you can’t go wrong with the Sony HX300/B.  And weighing 1 pound 7 ounces, it won’t wear you out carrying it all day as would carrying a full-size DSLR and a couple lenses (at twice the weight and bulk) that you would need to get the same focal range. May the 4th recently passed as a celebration for Star Wars fans and now another Star Wars Peter Mayhew aka Chewbacca is celebrating his birthday day with 80′s legend Grace Jones and The Who’s guitarist Pete Townshend. It’s hard to believe the Grace Jones is in her 60′s now and still going strong performing just as much as Townshend.

We’d be remiss to leave out The Real Housewives Of Atlanta Kim Zolciak who left after a rather dramatic march off at lunch with husband Kroy, but she’ll be back. Her spin-off is doing fine in the ratings thanks to all the parental drama, but we could see that mile away whenever her parents eyes lit up when their baby hit the goldmine with Atlanta Falcons Kroy Biermann. You could see them waiting to sink their teeth into his bank account, and this is helping out in Kim’s ratings at least. Zolciak and Nene’s Leakes have reportedly made up so expect her blond hair and attachment to be back on RHOA next season.

The Rafael Nadal we’ve been rooting for has definitely come back and proven it at the 2013 Italian Open after taking out both Ernests Gulbis and fellow Spaniard David Ferrer. The Rafinator is looking good to take the prize for the open with some very good chances doing the same at the upcoming French Open.

Nadal is king of the clay courts, but he says it’s been tough with the long back to back matches. By his sidelining himself for so long last year looks to be a very smart move and taking time on his road back seems to be the right thing for him. Fans are more than happy to see him back fighting his way to top form and back in the ranks where we’re used to seeing him.

Q: Which part of your game are you more satisfied with today
R. Nadal:  I think almost everything and I played a great match against a difficult opponent and I played my best and the worst moment in the third I played my best tennis and I an happy. He is a fantastic player and a big example for the kids and positive and fighting and correct on court and a great example and so this victory for me is very special

Q: How difficult was the second set and then the let point and then the warning and David’s defence.
R. Nadal:  Not difficult and I know not to lose concentration and so I was thinking of the beginning and I thought to start to be strong mentally and not have changes mentally. At the beginning of the third he had big confidence after winning the second and so you feel you don’t want to miss balls and so I had to stop this moment and I think I did, winning the second and the third was a fantastic match for me and I played aggressive with my forehand and I ………. This is an important victory for me after two tough matches here.

Q: You have not played best of 5 since Wimbledon and so, how important are these long matches for you
R. Nadal:  Long term good, short term bad because I am preparing for tomorrow and with 2 matches in a row it is tough and it is normal. It is the first time that I play long matches in a row and so it is positive because physically on court and I can resist longer than a few weeks ago and I can do this extra in the moments when I need which I wasn’t able to do before and so we’ll think of tomorrow and the tough situation.

R. Nadal:  To be in the semi in a Masters is a big deal and you have to win against good players. Surprised that he is playing .. No. After my match in Madrid he has great potential and I said to the coach of Granollers he is playing well and I saw him play in Montecarlo in the second round and then in Barcelona and Madrid and his level is improved a lot and he is one of the strongest of the tour and he is serving very well and his forehand is improving and if he keeps improving his forehand he will be in a good position in the ranking.

Number 28 ranked tennis player in the world Grigor Dimitrov surprised everyone by knocking Novak Djokovic out of the 2013 Italian Open. The world’s top ranked player had this to say about the match. “For this tournament, I didn’t prepare myself so good, but I’m not trying to find any excuses,” Djokovic said.

At 21, Dimitrov can no longer be called a teenage sensation. But he has been earning plenty of praise for his versatile shotmaking, even drawing comparisons with the Swiss star Roger Federer. But there have also been questions about Dimitrov’s mental strength and his ability to go the distance against the world’s best players; he has lost matches recently that had seemed within his reach.

Novak Djokovic is out of the Rome Masters, Rafael Nadal might have been had David Ferrer not frozen for the 19th time in 23 matches against his Spanish friend, and Andy Murray still does not know if he is in the French Open.

Even Roger Federer did not get through this Roman adventure without anguish. The Swiss, cruising up until the quarter-finals, blew two match points and had to win a tie-break to beat the aggressive young Pole Jerzy Janowicz 6-4, 7-6 in their first meeting, which finished after midnight. We will hear a lot more of Janowicz.

Federer has the luxury of a semi-final against Benoît Paire, the Frenchman who dropped a single set in the quarters against Marcel Granollers, who caused a hobbling Murray all sorts of problems before the world No2 retired in the second round.

Murray’s dilemma is the least clear-cut, as he emerged from an MRI scan on his troubled back in London on Friday knowing he has only a few days in which to decide if he will make it to Paris next weekend. The disc-related pain in his lower left back which has dogged him for 18 months and forced him to quit during his opening match in Rome this week clearly is serious enough for him to contemplate missing Roland Garros to give himself a chance of playing at Wimbledon at the end of June.

There was no immediate indication of what damage the tests revealed but Murray said on his departure from Rome he would be “very surprised” if he made it to Paris. There is supporting evidence: the absence in Rome of his coach, Ivan Lendl, and Murray’s earlier commitment to an extra grass workout at Hurlingham, between Queen’s and Wimbledon, also suggests he already doubted he would make much of an impact on clay this summer.

Djokovic had only himself to blame for losing to the sixth seed Tomas Berdych, whom he had beaten 11 times in a row since Wimbledon in 2010. After 71 minutes, the world No1 was serving for a place in the semi-finals, 6–2 and 5–2 up, when his concentration deserted him and the stubborn Czech, fists pumping and full of fire, roared back to force a third set.

An hour later, Berdych led 5-3 and Djokovic had to produce two bits of magic to stay in the match: a powered-down, away-swinging ace and an unreachable drop shot. Berdych squandered three match points before sealing it with an ace.

Djokovic, who beat Nadal to win the Monte Carlo Masters, then lost last week in Madrid to the rampant young Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, is still the main threat to the Spaniard in Paris, although he was bitterly disappointed with himself here.

“I know I can play well on clay but I shouldn’t allow myself to have these moments during a match,” he said. “You must congratulate your opponent and be moving on. The French might be my best chance yet, I hope so. I don’t want to make any predictions.”

Ferrer, though, cannot beat his Nadal jinx. He started tentatively, gathered confidence then wilted, a depressingly familiar pattern against Nadal, who wrapped it up 6–4, 4–6, 6–2 in two hours 46 minutes.Maria Sharapova, meanwhile, simultaneously wrecked the women’s draw and gave Italians cause to cheer when she withdrew with an unspecified viral complaint before she was due to go on court in the quarter-finals against the local favourite Sara Errani.

So the sixth seed, who jumps to five in the world when the new rankings are announced on Monday – only the second Italian after Francesca Schiavone to get that far – reaches the semi-finals of her home tournament for the first time after two gifts, Sharapova’s withdrawal following the injury retirement of Maria Kirilenko in the third round.

However, there will now be no showdown in the final between the two best players in the world, Sharapova and Serena Williams, not that the supremely confident American was probably much worried. No matter what happened in this tournament, she would not have lost her world No1 ranking and is in “the form of her life”, as Laura Robson testified in defeat.

The British No1 was the only player to trouble her this week and on Friday Williams inflicted embarrassment on the unseeded Spaniard Carla Suárez-Navarro, giving up just two sets in 56 minutes to extend her winning streak to 22.

Continuing his winning streak after a slow start earlier this week against Ernests Bulbis, Rafael Nadal took out fellow Spaniard David Ferrer taking him on to the semi-finals. Many were wondering if the tennis star would recover enough after last years sideline from his ankle injury, but he’s proving that’s he’s ready to get back to his old self.

It was a great match and Ferrer gave Nadal a run for his money, but it just wasn’t enough for the Rafinator. Novak Djokovic was surprisingly taken out of the Open by Czech Tomas Berdych, who’ll go up against Rafael now. Djokovic has pretty much let it be known that his poor form guaranteed a French Open triumph for the bounce back tennis star.

Spain’s Rafael Nadal defeated his fellow country and world no. 4 David Ferrer in three sets 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 to reach the semifinals of the Internazionali BNL d’Italia in Rome. Nadal is a 6-time winner of the tournament and defending champion as well.

First set took almost an hour, in which both players started from where they had left in Madrid. Ferrer had taken the first set against Nadal in Madrid and Nadal had to take the second set in tie-break after coming back from one break down. The King of Clay saved 6 break points in the first set and availed the only break point that he got, to take the first set 6-4.

Ferrer raced to a 4-0 lead in the second set as he broke Nadal twice. Nadal got one break back and tried to get things levelled but Ferrer successfully took the second set 6-4 and forced the match into a decider.

The world no. 5 again became very strong on his serve in the third set and refused to give any break of serve. After saving four break points and breaking his compatriot twice, Nadal took the set 6-2 and booked his spot in the last 4.

This was Nadal’s 19th career win over Ferrer. He has now beaten Ferrer 3 times this season and second time in two weeks.

The 26-year-old Mallorcan will now face Czech Republic’s Tomas Berdych in the semifinals, who defeated world no. 1 Novak Djokovic.

Frenchman Benoit Paire dropped just one game against Marcel Granollers of Spain to reach his first Masters Series semi-final where he will play second seed Roger Federer. The Swiss overcame Poland’s Jerzy Janowicz 6-4 7-6.

After easing through the first set, Federer survived a scare when he was broken in the opening game of the second, but after clawing his way back to 5-5, he took the tiebreak for the loss of just two points.

In the women’s event top world number Serena Williams pulverised Spaniard Carla Suarez Navarro 6-2 6-0 to reach the last four but there will be no re-run of last week’s Madrid final after Maria Sharapova was forced to withdraw from her quarter-final against Sara Errani because of illness.

Berdych had not tasted victory over Djokovic since the 2010 Wimbledon semi-finals and was on the brink of a 12th straight loss to the Serbian before an amazing transformation.

The clean-hitting world number six won five games in a row to level the match and then dominated the deciding set to leave Djokovic with food for thought before the French Open.

“It’s a special victory. I was on 11 defeats in a row (against Djokovic) and it had to stop,” Berdych, who did not even create a break point until the top seed served for the match at 5-3 in the second set, told reporters.

Djokovic, who also lost early in the Madrid Open last week, said he had let Berdych back into the match.

“It was a very weird match,” he told reporters. “I lost concentration and I started to play too defensively and did not convert my opportunities and I lost this match on my own.

“I need to make sure that I don’t have highs and lows. I’m sure that I will be ready for Paris.”

Fifteen-times grand slam champion Williams is enjoying the longest winning streak of her illustrious career, her rout of Suarez-Navarro stretching her run to 22.

“I guess this is the best period in my career but I don’t really think about it,” the American said.

Next in her sights is Romanian qualifier Simona Halep who beat twice former champion Jelena Jankovic 4-6 6-0 7-5.
