Anyone knows, the later in life you deal with a hangover, the worse they get, and Todd Phillips’ The Hangover Part III is no different. If you manage to sit through this one, you’ll be grateful this is the final one in the lucrative franchise.

I thought the first Hangover movie was hilarious and over the top outrageous and Part II was okay. It had gotten bigger but the laughs had gotten smaller. Part III is just such a huge letdown as you’d expect the final film to go out with a big bang and no holds barred, but you really begin to wonder if this is actually a comedy. This one decides to ditch the winning formula of backward structure resulting from, well a hangover, and goes for straight out  chase film. Yes, sometimes franchise films that stick to a formula get tired, but this one goes so far outside of their winning formula, it destroys any fond memories you’ll have of the original.

Phillips knows that one of the series big selling points was Zack Galifianakis’ (Alan) deadpan delivery, and they’ve decided to exploit it heavily in this film. Big big problem!

Whereas Alan used to be the loveable strange one, he’s gotten meaner and nastier over the course of the trilogy. You just don’t root for him anymore or really care why you liked him in the first place. The Wolfpack Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms), and Doug (Justin Bartha) decide to stage an intervention taking him to a rehab clinic in Arizona. While enroute, they’re stopped by mobster Marshall (John Goodman) who thinks they’ve stolen gold bars that were originally stolen by Mr. Chow (Ken Jeong). Doug is taken hostage and thus the fun begins to find Mr. Chow, the gold and whatever humor they can try to wring out of this film.

Animal lovers won’t be too happy with the giraffe scene at the beginning, but it sets the course of the plot. If you’re looking for a fun raunch film, you won’t find it here, and you might get a couple chuckles, but sadly, that’s about it.

I was more frustrated at how lazy and desperate this film felt and with only a couple years since the last film, this one should have had more time to simmer and stew. It almost felt like Phillips really didn’t care about the fans of the series and felt they didn’t deserve his best.

The Hangover Part III quickly wears out its welcome and will leave fans feeling deserted by the Wolfpack. As in real life, you’ll be reminded of that friend who you used to be close with but they’ve gotten older and no wiser leaving you to realize it’s time to end that friendship and move on.

The Fast and the Furious franchise is that rarity that was nearly killed off but then resurrected into something bigger, badder and better than anyone thought was possible. That last two films in the franchise kicked up everything and Fast Five developed an Ocean’s 11 type formula that carries on into Fast & Furious 6.

Credit is due to screenwriter Chris Morgan and director Justin Lin who’ve been in charge of the past four films and with each one, they have to top each other with bigger action and bigger sets. Cars are king and the duo have always delivered, but this time they also bring in a jet airplane and an army tank to amp up the action. It’s not wonder why Lin is stepping down after this one as anyone would be burned out! James Wan (Saw, Insidious) will helm Fast & Furious 7, and I will admit, I’m nervous about him bringing the goods the way Lin has.

Fast Five showed off the scenic views of Rio de Janeiro, and this time around it’s London’s skyline on display. Whereas James Bond Skyfall showed area of the city we weren’t so familiar with, Fast 6 takes on a speedy tourist trip through a city known for as much gridlock as New York City. This is where your suspension of disbelief kicks in and you just enjoy the ride. Don’t think about all those times you sat in traffic in Piccadilly Circus and wonder how Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Paul Walker and the gang are able to whisk through it all so easily. Once you just sit back and escape into the film, you will have a blast!

Dominic Toretto and Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) have retired from all that money they got during the Rio caper have chosen the quiet life, especially now that there’s a baby courtesy of Jordana Brewster’s Mia. The baby takes up a lot of her time as they do in real life.

After we’re quickly caught up on what’s been happening with the gang, we are then whisked along to Moscow where federal agent Hobbs (Johnson) is looking over what’s left from a rather violent attack on a Russian military convoy. He lets his new partner (MMA Champion Gina Carano) know that Owen Shaw (Luke Evans who never met a snarl he didn’t like) is behind this.

This provides the plot to bring everyone together. Hobbs is able to make a deal that Dom and the gang can’t refuse. If they can stop Shaw, they all get immunity.

As we saw at the end of Fast Five, Michelle Rodriguez is back, but on the other team in another suspension of belief plot. She has no memory of her old friends and family, and I have to say it works pretty well for bringing back someone from the dead. Dom naturally works to get her memory back and you know how that will turn out with these films.

Remember at the end of Five when two Dodge Chargers were tearing through the streets of downtown Rio with a huge steel bank vault behind them? Well, this time Lin was able to top that with a very intense chase scene with a Chieftain Army tank. I’ m trying not to give away much, but with this franchise, you come for the mind numbing action scenes over storyline and there’s so much adrenaline pumping, you’ll be ready for the next one in the series.

Fast & Furious 6 just keeps on bringing out the amazing breathtaking stunts we’ve come to expect in the past couple films. It’s not about storyline so much as just having a great movie to escape with and enjoy the view. For any Fast fan, the view is pretty spectacular!

Naturally, once word hit that Shakira and Usher wouldn’t be returning to Season 5 of The Voice with Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, reports hit making it sound like they were gone for good. One even tried to make Usher sound like a bit of an ass. US Weekly had a ‘source’ say that the singer ‘had more important things to do,” making it sound like mentoring young artists was beneath him.

Simply not true. Usher will be doing the film about Sugar Ray Leonard so he wasn’t able to return for Season 5 and Shakira wanted to spend a little more time with her family. Personally, I would have loved to see the two return next season as they really put an even bigger spark into the mentors panel. I didn’t even miss Cee Lo Green or Christina Aguilera, but they will be returning for Season 6. I was really impressed with Usher in how he took mentoring so seriously and really focused on each artist as an individual rather than as just another one on the team. The chemistry in the red chairs was great and while the talent wasn’t as great as it’s been in the past, it’s been my favorite season so far.

Simon Cowell could truly learn some things from this. The Voice was able to lure another two big names in the music industry because it’s a good show and all about the chemistry. You can throw together some names at the last minute hoping it will generate enough publicity to get audiences watching again, but that wears thin quickly and people can see through the act. After last season’s mess, don’t expect X Factor USA to last much longer if ratings keep dropping.

Adam Levine and Blake Shelton are all set to return for the next two seasons. Levine definitely hasn’t forgotten what the show has done to resurrect his music career and Shelton truly seems to be enjoying his time on the show. It’s not official yet, but we’re hearing that Cee Lo Green will be bringing back that white cat Purrfect for the upcoming season.

The Twilight Saga’s Robert Pattinson has had quite the year with the saga that made him famous coming to an end and remaining strong with Kristen Stewart so this birthday for him is a memorable one.  He spent his birthday weekend out in L.A. without Stewart and definitely had a rough look about him, but he’s being sure to be more vocal about his relationship and his wish for a stronger personal life in the upcoming year. He spent the earlier part of last week with his Vampire Bella in New York City, but had some private time at the Chateau Marmont and photogs captured him looking a little gruff on his way out.

The two will be hitting the Cannes red carpet together as part of promotional duties and romantic getaway. Usually one to play his cards close to his chest, it seems the Edward Cullen actor has been much more vocal about his relationship getting stronger along with the two actors looking for the next movie to do together.

“He wants to have a much stronger relationship and Kristen has him thinking that by doing another movie together, this can only make them closer,” several sources close to the couple said. “Kristen can be very insecure and she needs to have someone around more often making her feel special and cared for or else she’ll quickly wander as she did with Snow White and the Huntsman.”

Stewart is planning quite the party for her man to top even the one he splurged on her. Word is she’s even having his astrological charts done which she might want to hold of on since many horoscopes have shown that their relationship isn’t looking to be as long-term as their on-screen one was. Below is what was revealed by several astrologers about the relationship.

“Kristen has a special day and night planned for Rob,which will include swimming, friends, music, and of course their dogs Bear and Bernie. She’s not revealing too many details because she wants it to be a surprise for him,” notes the friend. “She just wants to totally shower him with love and affection.”

NBC finally put the show that everyone loved to hate Smash out of its misery, but it also axed Ryan Murphy’s The New Normal which had gotten some controversy before it even aired. The final episode of the the season felt like Murphy already knew that his somewhat autobiographical show would be cancelled. It was no surprise about Smash as it started out as a hit last season but then suddenly became just a confusing mess that you couldn’t stop watching. The second season was quickly moved to the Saturday night graveyard signalling the show was just going to get burned off with no coming back. It just proves that replacing a lot of moving parts doesn’t always fix the problem.

At least NBC is finally realizing that testing out some different types of programming can help bring them back from last place as Hannibal has proven for them. Yes, I know the ratings for the series have fluctuated, but at least NBC is showing that they’re not afraid of trying new things to bring viewers back. Hannibal feels like one of those shows that easily would have been a fit on HBO or Showtime, and it’s great to see something that fresh on a network station. Just hopefully NBC realizes just how good this show is and doesn’t start tinkering to dilute it down.

Ryan Murphy had a lot of irons in the fire this past year with a much improved American Horror Story: Asylum, Glee and The New Normal. It’s rare to keep things going and consistent when you’ve got so many different shows going on so at least now he can focus on another great season of AHS while he continues Glee for another two season. Glee did feel a little more solid this season (and that’s saying a lot after last season’s mess), and we’re hearing that he’ll be bringing the gang to one spot rather than splitting things up like this season.

Murphy’s reality competition The Glee Project was announced to be cancelled when negotiations for Glee were looking doubtful, but now we hear that there’ll be anther season since Glee has two more seasons left. It looks like filming will happen in this fall with a possibility for the winner to appear in the Spring 2014 season. Big thing will be getting Oxygen on board, and I can’t really see why they wouldn’t as this is one of the best reality shows out there. I’ve always been tough on Murphy with Glee, but he has a winner with his Glee Project.

Beverly Hills Cop was a pretty high profile project in development, but CBS wound up passing on it. I’m sure it’ll be shopped around elsewhere, but we’re hearing it doesn’t look likely to land a home any time soon.

Everyone’s been talking and speculating about Tim Tebow’s future except for Tim Tebow. It’s been nearly two weeks since he was cut from the New York Jets, but he’s keeping very quiet about it all. Rumors hit about him practicing with the Miami Dolphins, fans petitioned the White House to get the Jacksonville Jaguars to take him on and there’s even been word about him joining a Canadian Football League. The one big place watching very closely is FOX as they’ll be launching FOX Sports One, their all-sports cable network to rival ESPN.

Tebow’s been getting plenty of offers as we reported last week, just none of them to play football. Fans of the football star may not see him return to the field, and if that happens, we’ve heard that FOX will be making a sizable offer to the media magnet to kick-off their new network this August. The spot he’s being eyed for on that network is as a college football analyst. Currently FOX’s college football studio show has Erin Andrews, Eddie George and Joey Harrington so Tebow in the mix can add even more heat.

With his loyal following, don’t be surprised if NBC & the CBS Sports Network along with ESPN suddenly begin swooping in if his playing career looks to be at an end. I’m already hearing that ESPN’s College GameDay team has discussed the possibility of having some Tebow in their mix too.

Right now Tebow isn’t saying a word as reporters learned this past Thursday night during a keynote address at the Lake Michigan College. He had already been booked while still an active player in the NFL.

Tebow accepted no questions from the press at the event, and was quickly whisked out a back door by police escort afterward.

Instead of discussing the past two weeks or his future, the 25-year-old, wearing a dark suit and purple tie, sat on stage and engaged in an easygoing exchange with a moderator. Tebow spoke of his intensely competitive nature, his Christian faith, his love of family, and his record-setting high school and college careers. He only briefly touched upon his rookie season with the Denver Broncos, when he led the team to an improbable playoff win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

But he said nothing about the Jets.

The closest Tebow came to shedding light on what he might do next was when he repeated one of his favorite sayings: “I don’t know what the future holds, but at the end of the day I know who holds my future.”

Kyle Henry’s Fourplay film made quite the splash on the film festival circuit, and it definitely makes you realize that we do live in one of the more puritanical countries when it comes to sex and intimacy. The film is four intimate tales set in four different American cities dealing with quite a variety of people and their issues. I was reminded of Todd Haynes Poison and that’s a good thing.

Fourplay is quite the funny dark comedy in the vein of Happiness and they are completely fascinating. Most people may find pieces of themselves in these characters caught in the clutches of their own desires that are rather messed up. More importantly, they were probably raised and told that these desires were messed up and wicked resulting in them sinking to despair knowing they can’t escape it. This is the type of film that will make people nevevous to watch and that’s a shame since it can really open up some great discussions about the ignorance of sex versus intimacy in this country. It’s still easier to get a PG-13 rating in the US if your film includes all violence but nothing too sexual. The reverse will get you an immediate R or NC-17 even with no violence.

Who would’ve thought low key Porsha Stewart would have gotten the kind of controversy you’d expect from new cast member Kenya Moore on the Real Housewives Of Atlanta? And the bigger surprise is that NeNe Leakes wants her off the show more than arch rival Phaedra Park! The reality show has ended it’s fifth season and the fireworks have continued so season 6 should be an interesting one!

The Real Housewives Of Atlanta Reunion shows were pretty heated and intense, but no one saw the accusations coming against Porsha Stewart and her husband Korbell. After defending her missing husband on the Reunion show, Porsha was served divorce papers the same week her big declaration of marriage was to air on the final special. The big scandal is this:

“Porsha found out that she was NOT going to come back on the show – and both she and her husband [Kordell] desperately wanted to stay on the Housewives. So they figured if they created a FAKE DIVORCE, like NeNe [Leakes] did – it would be enough drama for them to be asked back.”

So it’s being said that Porsha had officially been let go of the show, but then with a sudden last minute story of divorce in the air perked them back up again to keep her for another season. Leakes has come under fire for her divorce from husband Greg and now they’ll get their own tv special focusing on them and their marriage. With reality tv we know, reality is usually an afterthought.

The fact that NeNe shocked everyone on Watch What Happens Now and told Andy Cohen that she felt Porsha had to go from the show, and everyone knows that whatever NeNe wants now, she gets. She’s the sole original castmate on the show after Kim Zolciak did her dramatic walk-off, and the producers know they can’t afford to lose her.

Right now, Bravo execs are seeing if this story blows over or not before making any rash decision about Stewart. Hey, if this is true, she’s much better at coming up with storylines than Sheree Whitfield was! With rumors like this, it can go one way or the other. It can either make Porsha look smarter and savvier in reality tv than anyone gave her credit for or enough beating up could make people feel sorry for her. As much as they did when the story came out that she found out about her divorce through Twitter.

On a lighter funnier note, a cameraman ran into Nene Leakes at LAX and asked her name. When she didn’t respond and kept working her Twitter finger, he then asked if she was Mary J Blige. This quickly got him a response from her that wasn’t too friendly looking. At least it was a complimentary person….hell, he could’ve asked if she was Sherri Shepherd. That would’ve been a real slap in the face.
