Hollywood’s not been the most conservative when it comes to trying to keep it’s pipeline full of franchise, superhero tentpole summer movies while then screaming they’re not making the money they should. So they continue pumping out these bloated crazy expensive films hoping that one will hit. Here’s a list of the Top 15 most expensive movies. Some hit, some will have their moment to prove themselves during the holiday season and Summer 2013.

Coming soon: The Lone Ranger: Watch Johnny Depp as an eccentric character in “white-face” make-up again for $215MM! Maybe because he isn’t teamed up with Tim Burton this movie may turn out good.

Men In Black 3 – A $215MM ‘Men in Black’ movie about time travel…. To bad they couldn’t go back in time to when the MIB movies were good still and before the diva actors took over.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian It’s surprising that this $225MM dollar movie actually doubled profit in the box office. Mainly because, well… we don’t know anyone who has seen it.

 Pirates Of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest - The first ‘Pirates’ was a wild success, so one can only assume that the sequel would be flooded with money. $225MM worth in fact… and then make it back in spades.

Quantum Of Solace: $230MM was plugged into the 2nd Craig/Bond flick. Even though the film was a let down for Bond fans, especially after the incredible ‘Casino Royal’ the film still made half a billion dollars. Skyfall easily makes up for Quantum Of Solace and will easily make it’s big budget back along with pulling in new fans for the 50 year old super spy.

Superman: This highly anticipated film made over $300MM in box office. Sounds impressive right? Too bad it cost $232MM to make. Definitely not the blockbuster the studios thought it would be. Now there back trying again hoping Zack Snyder can do better with Henry Cavill in Man Of Steel.

Avatar: Holy crap. Leave it to Mr. James Cameron to turn a $237MM movie into a $2.3 BILLION dollar juggernaut. What a success. And potentially the best 3D to grace the silver screen yet.

Harry Potter Franchise: The Harry-boy franchise is the success story of the century. And spending $250MM on this movie was a sneeze to the studio making it. Icing on the cake? The billion dollars it made on this film alone.

The Dark Knight Rises: After Christopher Nolan’s delicious success on his other Batman films, Warner Bros had NO issue forking over $250MM for his finale. The biggest Batman movie for sure. The best? Not quite, but worth every penny spent.

Pirates Of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides - They just keep makin’ em. And they just keep makin’ money on em. This one cost a fat $250MM. It was the weakest of the franchise, but still a popcorn-pusher. And yes… they are making another.

Spiderman 3: Panned by critics and moviegoers alike, this $258MM movie still made almost a billion dollars internationally. Whew. Thats a lot of web-slinging $$$$$$$

Tangled: Disney got their groove back on this movie. It’s just cost them $260MM to do it. And well worth it, because this flick cleared almost $600MM world-wide. Charmed I’m sure.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey - Peter Jackson is at it again, busting bills like it’s his job….because, well, it is. This little-person mogul is getting a solid $270MM for each installment of ‘The Hobbit’ franchise.

Pirates Of the Caribbean: At World’s End - Boom! $300MM! Of course, seeing the dollar signs the previous films made there is no way the studio would even bat an eye at signing a $300MM check. Then of course the movie makes $960MM. Boom….again.

John Carter: This $300MM bomb crap-fest only made $130MM back at the box office. Definition of dud: John (why was this made) Carter

The season finale of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo beat out South Park, so the boys have taken on Alana Thompson and her mom June Shannon in an upcoming episode. Check out the preview clip below which is almost like watching an episode of the TLC show.

It was bound to happen and Honey Boo Boo Child and June Shannon have truly made it into the cultural mainstream now that South Park creators, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, have put them in an episode. It only took a handful of episodes before Saturday Night Live spoofed Alana Thompson’s Honey Boo Boo Child, and now the animated show that spoofs nearly everyone on the cultural radar has joined in. It doesn’t hurt that the show was bested by The Learning Channel (TLC) in the season finale of the hit reality show, so they’re capitalizing on it.

In the clip, Thompson and mom Shannon are shopping for a pig that’s got some reality show pizzazz, and possibly as a Glitzy 2, and it actually feels a little like watching the show. After that dumpster diving shopping episode, it’s hard for the South Park boys to go any more over the top.

The hit show has picked up another supporter, Life’s A Tripp and now Dancing With the Stars contestant, Bristol Palin, has jumped in to say how much of a fan she is of Honey Boo Boo. Now we’ll see if mom Sarah Palin follows suit to generate some press for herself again.

Tim Burton’s remake of his own Frankenweenie movie hits theaters next month, and here’s the latest clip of Sparky coming alive along with some crisp new images to check out below.

Many of Tim Burton’s latest films have felt a little familiar in theme and of course, actors being used again and again, but ‘Frankenweenie‘ can remind us of the guy we all fell for way back in the 90′s…after ‘Batman‘ of course! ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas‘ and ‘The Corpse Bride‘ were so good, but the past several years have made me forget them, but the latest full trailer or the remake of his film that Disney didn’t care for is classic Burton. The story about a kid who brings his dog ‘Sparky’ back has interesting results (not as bad results as Pet Semetary), but the other kids in the town decide to do the same which obviously brings back some things that shouldn’t have been.

Many people are hating the BBC’s animated athletes, but get ready to see plenty of them at the end of the month as they’ve unveiled the opening titles for the 2012 London Olympic Games. Here’s some of the hi-res images to take a closer look at what they consider looks like the perfect athlete.

I still think the big highlight for the 2012 London Olympic Games will be Daniel Craig’s James Bond appearance for some ‘Skyfall’ promotion, but there’ll be plenty of animation use this year. The BBC started the animation approach four years ago, and while many viewers complained, they’re continuing the tradition with the athletes that look somewhat superhuman and otherworldly. You can see in the trailer below along with some of the images above and below. I’ve not seen calf muscles quite like those before, but it also looks like we can expect this quality in their Olympic game which will hit PS3, XBox and Wii.

We’ve also put a trailer in with the real athletes so you can compare. I personally always like to see real athletes in action, but I’m sure this saves a bundle and makes it easier to do these types of shots.

‘Dark Shadows‘ was a let down for some of us, but at lease ‘Frankenweenie’ looks like classic Tim Burton doing what he does best…stop motion animation with a fun dark story. Check out the latest images and clips below.

Brownmark Films lost their appeal after a judge threw out their case in which they accused South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker of copyright infringement for their viral video hit ‘What What (in the Butt)‘.

The makers of ‘What What (in the Butt)’ were delivered yet another blow after an appeal court turned them after they sued claiming that South Park had misappropriated their viral video. The case was thrown out by a Wisconsin federal judge last summer after it was decided that it fell under ‘fair use’ since the 2008 episode ‘Canada on Strike‘ was in fact a parody of the Writer’s Strike from that year along with the viral video sensation. It was thought by many that the South Park placement helped push the video into viral mode.

Today, the appeals court chose not to allow the lawsuit to go any further and three judges decided that the case being thrown out was appropriate. THR brought up a good point in that Viacom, who’s gone after YouTube for copyright infringement wound up winning their own copyright infringement case.

Now Brownmark Films really will be taking (in the Butt) as they have been ordered to pay Viacom’s legal fees. This case was brought up in 2010 so you know those fees will be astronomical and Brownmark much be wishing they’d just enjoyed the celebrity Matt Stone, Trey Parker and South Park gave them briefly.

Tim Burton’s remake of his classic ‘Frankenweenie‘ shows off it’s first poster plus a few new images from the set you can check out below.

Interestingly, the poster reads ‘From the director of Alice In Wonderland‘ rather than ‘From the director of Frankenweenie’, but I’m sure Disney knows that might confuse people. And the way things have been for ‘John Carter‘, we know Disney gets very nervous if they think a mass audience could get confused. As most of you know, Tim Burton is remaking himself in this stop motion remake of his ‘Frankenweenie‘ movie which Disney originally hated until it got a cult fanbase which steadily grew through the years. Here’s the new poster for the film.

It’ll be interesting to see the trailer for this one when it hits, but since ‘Frankenweenie’ won’t hit theaters until October, we probably won’t see one for another couple of weeks.
