‘The Bourne Legacy‘ marketing has begun and below is the latest teaser poster which makes you look a little closer.
Aside from the controversy over Matt Damon not being in ‘The Bourne Legacy‘, Universal Pictures hasn’t been pushing it too hard, so hopefully the lackluster teaser poster isn’t a sign of what to expect from the film. I love Jeremy Renner, and the film will probably be good, but a Bourneless ‘Bourne’ movie just seems a little odd. Now with Matt Damon hinting that he’s return, let’s just get this franchise back to be as brilliant as it was before! Yeah, the poster has a little maze design, but that’s pretty much it. Hell, with a summer so full of kickass movies on the way, Universal has got to step it up for this film since it opens August 3, 2012. In movie world, that’s a small window to get people’s attention.
Here’s what Jeremy Renner had to say about his character Aaron Cross. “My character is called Aaron Cross, but he ends up having a bunch of different names. For fans of the franchise, [The Bourne Legacy] has that same ticking clock, but it’s a new programme and new characters.”
Director Tony Gilroy had this to say about the behind the scenes drama surrounding ‘The Bourne Legacy’. “This is not a reboot or a recast or a prequel. No one’s replacing Matt Damon. There will be a whole new hero (Jeremy Renner), a whole new chapter…this is a stand-alone project. The easiest way to think of it is an expansion or a reveal… Jason Bourne will not be in this film, but he’s very much alive. What happened in the first three films is the trigger for what happens. I’m building a legend and an environment and a wider conspiracy… the world we’re making enhances and advances and invites Jason Bourne’s return.”
Renner’s on an amazing role with ‘Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol‘ and ‘The Avengers‘, so if this one underperforms, he’s okay, but it’ll give Damon lots more bargaining power with Universal for the next Bourne film.
Along with Jeremy Renner, ‘The Bourne Legacy’ also stars Edward Norton, Rachel Weisz, Joan Allen, Albert Finney, Corey Stoll, Oscar Isaac, Scott Glenn, and Stacy Keach.

Why make a The Bourne Legacy a Bourne movie without Jason Bourne as a character in it? Just fucks things up for those who grew up around the Bourne trilogy and cannot fathom a Bourne movie without Matt Damon kicking ass in it. A bit like Tokyo Drift……..Utterly useless.

actually matt said he would only do another bourne film if paul greengrass was directing it and the bourne legacy isnt a sequal but is a sort of sidestory like xmen origins etc. i admit it wont feel right without matt but im willing to give this a chance as i slated fast and furious tokyo drift because it didnt have paul or vin diesel in it but was actually, for me, a great film so just got to wait and see…

only reason damon let this movie is cuz he said he wont do it cuz the director didnt return. of course this pissed off fans so he gave the bs actor shit of he will return to the future so all his fans wont hate him. damon should just stop doing the christian bale, nolan thing and just return. the bourne legacy book is all about him and not this new dude

@omaralnajm brosnan didnt leave bond willingly. they were going to tell a prequel of a younger bond just starting out. which they did. but tons of lil fans started bitching and complaining so they decided ok no prequel just a reboot. brosnan couldnt play bond in casino royale cuz he is just tooooooooooooooooooooo old to play a young version of himself

damon stated that he wants to be in the new bourne movie but only if greengrass is director but green grasssaid he’s not going to be returning as director, therefore there will be no matt damon
