Some new ‘The Dark Knight Rises‘ images have hit, and a couple are very close up on Tom Hardy’s Bane looking either surprised or concerned or maybe just with some awe at his own master destructive work.
New images from Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight Rises‘ are coming out weekly and sometimes even sooner, but Total Film got some cool new looks of Bane with an interesting look plus Catwoman with her own intense look. Tom Hardy also discusses more things Bane, and the one that’s caused much discussion…just how big did he actually get for the film.
We already know that Bane is going to be one tough mutha for Batman (Christian Bale) to take down, and Tom Hardy goes into that a little further. “I would say that in terms of brutality, this one exceeds the last one. This is the first episode that Batman’s ever physically been taken. Bane is a brute. I think what’s great about this villain is that The Joker is all about mind games and messing with people, whereas Bane is about physical strength. We’re giving Batman someone truly worthy of him. It’s not just pure force. Je’s really switched on.”
Hardy then tackles the question about how much bulk he gained to play the massive looking Bane. If you recall there were some images of a over the top looking massive Bane that were obviously CGI’d leading many of us to wonder if they would be combining that with Tom Hardy’s frame. That’s fine since Hardy is a great actor, but when Warner Bros. sent out their missives making everyone pull them from their sites claiming they were leaked, it seemed like it could be a reality. With a film this big, I wouldn’t be surprised if they added a little extra girth to the Hardy man. He’s not huge, and here’s what he had to say about it. “When I started I was about 160-something pounds. When I was done I was 190. You lift weights. You eat. You lift some more weights. You don’t run anywhere because if you do cardio, you drop weight. So it’s really good for heart attacks!”
