Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera’s The Voice Season 3 has got X Factor USA’s Simon Cowell acting like a cranky old man. Last season he tried to upstage them in the media with his ousting Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger, but now he claiming they’re trying to upstage his shaky return with a third night.

Simon Cowell is sounding like a petulant child now that The Voice is premiering for three nights this week overlapping with his very shaky X Factor USA return. During all the promotions for The Voice, Adam Levine has made a point to say that his show won’t be going negative. The promos for X Factor has shown a very blunt Britney Spears hoping to make people want to watch her being a mini-me Simon.
When The Voice was on last season, Cowell created a three ring circus media blitz trying to draw attention, but it wound up backfiring as people grew weary of it and then the tell-all book came out which didn’t do anything to help him. His X Factor underperformed both his and FOX’s expectations so he’s got a lot riding on it. Cowell’s comments to TMZ reek of desperation and when you read it below, it also sounds like he already feels Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton and Cee Lo Green have the far superior show.
“The reason they’ve done this is they don’t want people to see ‘X Factor’ because they’ve heard how good the series is. They don’t want their audience to see Britney Spears. They don’t want their audience to see Demi Lovato.”
Cowell tried crowing months ago that the head to head competition wouldn’t affect him, but now it’s a whole different story. Funny thing is, he is also saying that when The Voice UK came, it went up agains his Britain’s Got Talent. That’s the business of entertainment sweetie! If he was doing this, he’d be crowing that he’s just trying to make the other show up their game, but as with many bullie’s, when they get someone pushing on their turf, they go and cry foul. His age and character is showing with these types of media stunts, and it only makes Levine and The Voice look more like a class act.
I say stop crying, and put on a good show that makes The Voice work even harder to take your ratings. That’s what competition is all about. We’ll see if Demi Lovato and Britney Spears are able to salvage his flagging show.
The Voice is on NBC, September 10, 11 & 12th on NBC while X Factor USA returns on September 12 & 13th. Let the best show win, and I’m betting on Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green just for being a much classier outfit!
