One of the biggest casting surprises on Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story: Asylum was Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine, but he’s revealed his character’s name and what he’ll look like on the show. He’s clothed pretty well for the season though, so unless he’s forced to take a Hydrobath, it’ll be about his acting and not the body.

Ryan Murphy has been brilliantly marketing the new season of American Horror Story: Asylum with daily teaser trailers along with some creative casting choices like Adam Levine. Above is what he’ll look like on the show as Leo, a newlywed visiting modern-day Briarcliff with his wife. This character will be very opposite of what we see in the real life Levine, and this should test out his acting skills if he’s playing a devoted married guy.
The upcoming season which hits FX on October 17, 2012 is set at an East Coast asylum for the criminally insane in 1964, and revolves around Jessica Lange’s new character. a nun, and her boss at the institution, played by James Cromwell. From what we’ve gathered, Cromwell will be playing a pretty nasty boss while Lange will be more in a long suffering role ala Francis.
Below are the rest of the cast of characters from the show with a quick description so you know who’s doing what and to whom.

Jenna Dewan Tatum (yup, Magic Mike’s Channing Tatum’s lady) plays Teresa, Adam Levine’s wife.

Lily Rabe plays Sister Eunice.

Joseph Fiennes plays Monsignor Timothy O’Hara. Jessica Lange’s character is crushing on him, but I don’t see it working out.

Chloë Sevigny plays nymphomaniac inmate Shelley. But back then, Miley Cyrus would’ve probably been considered a nympho just for his pole dance exercises.

Sarah Paulson plays lesbian journalist Lana, who is committed to the asylum by her own girlfriend after she nearly exposes Briarcliff’s darkest secrets.

Evan Peters gives up Rubber Man as he plays Kit, an inmate who claims his wife was abducted by aliens.

Jessica Lange is Sister Jude.

Zachary Quinto plays Dr. Thredson, “a psychiatrist whose forward-thinking ways conflict with Sister Jude’s management style.”

Now for the rest of Adam Levine. His character will have absolutely nothing to do with the asylum, but he and his wife will be the unfortunate ones to get sucked in while they’re on their honeymoon. I’m sure Channing Tatum will be watching this season closely. While they’re in Boston, they’ll catch the attention of Bloody Face who can’t get enough of Levine as many fans know what that’s like.
From the descriptions of some of the characters, you can see that Murphy and Company have really drawn out some interesting storylines and great characters which will come to life for us on October 17, 2012. And for some of us reviewing it a little earlier!
