‘Absolutely Fabulous’ Back For Christmas

‘Absolutely Fabulous‘ fans can rejoice this holiday as Edina, Patsy and the rest of the gang will be hitting us with a Christmas special before the big movie gets into motion.

Below is the interview Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley did on my favorite talk show the ‘Graham Norton Show‘ where they premiered the ‘Absolutely Fabulous‘ Christmas special preview. As you can see in the video, Patsy is all web 2.0′d, and it’ll be interesting to not hear her spouting off ‘It’s Lacroix, darling.’

Stella McCartney will be showing up for this episode, which will be the first of three specials before the big screen movie hits, and I can’t wait for it. All we know about the McCartney storyline is that Edina and Patsy will be hitting the Stella McCartney store, and we all know how those outings usually go. There’s not a solid date set for when it will air here in the U.S., but I’ll assume BBC America will be smart enough to jump on that one as they’re assured some good ratings for that one.

If you recall, three years ago, someone at FOX thought it would make sense to “recast” ‘Absolutely Fabulous’, and I remember sitting through watching the pilot episode and praying that the cult show wouldn’t get sullied by the recast drek making it on the air. Thankfully, even FOX knew what a bomb they had on their hands and dumped it pronto. Most of us can still remember what Rosanne wound up attempting in her last season which only showed us how she could destroy Ab Fab after buying the rights.

Now Jennifer Sauners and Dawn French have them all back, and with enough time passing, they’re ready to bring back Edina and Patsy to a very receptive fan base.

Jennifer Saunders (Edina), Joanna Lumley (Patsy), Julia Sawalha (Saffy), June Whitfield (Mother), and Jane Horrocks (Bubble) are all returning. Saunders told news “Nevertheless we are so happy to be working for an audience that has grown just a tiny bit older, like us, but is still willing to let us fall over on TV in the name of PR.”

We’re all quite happy to have these old crazy friends return to our small screens with some good anti-PC shenanigans.
